Teyana Taylor's Stunning Face Transformation Since Her My Super Sweet 16 Party

Nearly two decades before she received an Oscar nod for her performance in the awards-sweeping action film "One Battle After Another," Teyana Taylor stepped into the public eye in a somewhat unorthodox way: on MTV's hit series "My Super Sweet 16." Taylor's transformation from a teenager sporting a high ponytail and multi-colored tutu to the bombshell Academy Award-nominated actor we know today is jaw-dropping.

Unlike the round face and wide eyes of her 16-year-old self, 35-year-old Taylor's signature sharp winged eyeliner emphasizes her sky-high cheekbones. Oh, and her defined jawline nowadays is gorgeous. Of course, her clothes have also changed. Differently from some of modern Teyana Taylor's spiciest fashion looks, teenage Taylor opted for bright colors and plenty of accessories. During Taylor's many outfit changes throughout her sweet 16, she sported a rainbow tutu, an iridescent light-green jacket that featured pink appliqués, chartreuse bows, and strings of multi-colored pearls, as well as a pair of heart-shaped gold bamboo earrings. While 2026 Taylor still has a penchant for dramatic outfits and intentional accessorizing, she's more likely to reach for diamond cuffs and Swarovski crystals than gold hoops and a pink headband.

During her 2007 episode of "My Super Sweet 16," which followed teens as they planned lavish 16th birthday parties, Harlem-born Taylor memorably stunned her party guests by springing out of a life-sized Barbie doll box and jumping into an elaborate choreographed dance number to make a grand entrance. Her charismatic face was on display the whole time, showing how charming she's always been. Since the show, her face has become instantly recognizable, and it turns out that she hasn't done much to it.

Teyana Taylor has been open about how she maintains her face

Despite her busy schedule, Teyana Taylor makes time to take care of her face, keeping up with skincare and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to maintain her camera-ready look. In 2020, Taylor walked The New York Times through her routine. Every evening, she uses black soap and tea tree oil to wash her face. To calm her skin back down after a coffee scrub, which uses "maybe two or three times a week," Taylor applies aloe vera gel and lets it fully absorb into her face before applying her go-to moisturizer: coconut oil. "I make my own concoctions by mixing ingredients I like all up in one moisturizer. I learned this from my mom and my aunt — we're Trinidadian. My aunt and I used to make customized shea butter concoctions when I was younger. This way of looking at beauty is instilled in me," Taylor said.

Taylor also has experience with facial injections. In 2022, she became a brand ambassador for Xeomin, an anti-wrinkle injection alternative to Botox. Taylor told Essence that while she still believes that "less is more" when it comes to beauty, she ultimately feels "safe" using Xeomin to smooth her frown lines.

Taylor has even shared the trick to attaining her signature thick, arched eyebrows. During her candid beauty talk with The New York Times, she explained how she gets the defined look without falling victim to the common mistakes people make when filling in their brows. "I see all these women with completely filled in brows. You don't need to do so much. ... I use a matte brow pencil, and I draw a line on the bottom of my brows, and then I use a spoolie and brush the line up into my brows," Taylor said.
