Lauren Sánchez Bezos' Super-Short Dress At DC Awards Dinner Was Quite The Inappropriate Outfit

Lauren Sánchez Bezos is no stranger to taking fashion risks. The former broadcast journalist and current wife of billionaire Jeff Bezos is practically known for her eye-catching looks. While they may not always fit their respective dress codes, her slinky, form-fitting dresses always make her stand out from the crowd — for better or for worse. One of her most infamous fashion moments came in January 2025, when Lauren Sánchez Bezos caught flack for her inappropriate inauguration day outfit, which saw her stylish yet too-sexy-for-a-presidential-inauguration lacy white bra go viral. Another of her fashion faux pas is the black minidress she wore to an awards dinner in Washington, D.C. a few years ago.

Many of Lauren Sánchez's most inappropriate outfits seem to come from a misunderstanding of time and place. Take her look at the 2023 ICCF U.S. Congressional International Conservation Leadership Awards, for example. Sánchez opted for a classic LBD with long, sheer sleeves, which, while gorgeous, was a bit too informal for the event. Photos from the evening show most of the other women guests in below-the-knee or floor-grazing dresses. Even though Lauren's black cocktail dress fits her like a glove — and her long, dark hair looks shiny and utterly fabulous — it sticks out as inappropriate for this specific occasion.

Lauren Sánchez Bezos is unapologetic about her 'sexy' sense of style

During her appearance on a September 2024 episode of "The View," when asked by co-host Sunny Hostin about her "daring" looks, Lauren Sánchez Bezos revealed which Hollywood divas inspire her style. "I really look up to women like Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, [and] Sofìa Vergara. They really embrace their culture when they dress, and so I think it's just in me and, you know, it's a little sexy," she said (via People).

Lauren Sánchez Bezos received style advice from Barbara Walters decades ago, and it continues to guide her fashion philosophy, as she recounted on "The View." She encountered Walters after the former auditioned for a seat on "The View" in 1999. After seeing Lauren's conservative makeover for the potential role, Walters apparently encouraged Sánchez to stay true to herself. "'If you're going to go down, go down as yourself. Because if you don't, you'll beat yourself up twice,'" she recalled Walters saying.

In a September 2024 interview with Elle, Sánchez reiterated that she greatly admires the fashion sense of other Latin women in Hollywood and emphasized that she doesn't care about what critics have to say about her expressive, risk-taking style choices. "I love fashion, and I love the Latin culture. I dress very Latin. ... I really just kind of remain committed to expressing my true, authentic self through fashion, and some people really love it, and some people really hate it, and that's okay," she said.
