Zahara Jolie's Transformation Has Been A Sight To See

Having turned 21 in January 2026, Zahara Jolie is officially an adult. It's hard to believe for millennials who remember her as a little kid bundled in the arms of her mother, Angelina Jolie. But her glow-up has been a long time coming, since the Spelman College student first started attending awards shows with her other family members when she was just 10 years old. At first sticking to safe and muted looks on the red carpets in her tween years, Zahara began to blossom as she grew older, experimenting with bolder fashion looks that let her carve out her own signature style.

Though she's mostly kept out of the spotlight (despite belonging to one of the most famous families in Hollywood), we have seen glimpses of Zahara's journey from childhood to the capable and proactive woman she is today. The stunning hair transformation of Zahara Jolie has been a force of its own, but her beauty is more than skin deep. Passionate about helping others and standing up for those who might not have a voice, Zahara has already been involved in multiple humanitarian projects, some of them even being blended with her love of fashion. Now at the dawn of her 20s, we can't wait to witness the further style transformations she undergoes as she navigates adulthood, along with the impact that she'll no doubt make to better the world. That's right — Zahara Jolie is all grown up, and it shows in her fashion, relationships, and more.

2005-2016: Zahara Jolie grows up in the glow of Hollywood

On January 8, 2005, Zahara Jolie was born in Hawassa, Ethiopia. Seven months later, she was adopted by Angelina Jolie, and a year later, she was also legally adopted by Angelina's then-partner Brad Pitt. The Jolie-Pitt brood was ever-growing and making headlines in Hollywood at the time, but Angelina mostly kept her children out of the public eye. The few photos we have of young Zahara and her siblings — Maddox, Pax Thien, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox — in the noughties are mostly glimpses of them being carried by their parents from one location to another. As a child, Zahara was cute as a button, and her sense of style began to develop at her first official awards show appearance in 2015.

In March that year, Angelina brought Zahara along with Shiloh to support her at Nickelodeon's 28th Annual Kids' Choice Awards. The family friendly event was a fitting choice for the girls' first awards show, and both sisters showed off a relaxed style that prioritized comfort. Zahara paired a white textured sweater with black jeans, a lace-style choker necklace, and demure stud earrings. At only 10 years old, Zahara rocked this age-appropriate look while cheering on her mother, who won an award for her role in "Maleficent."

She returned to her sheltered life away from Hollywood's prying camera lenses after this rare outing, but just a few years later, she'd be back by her mom's side, this time with a matured sense of style on the red carpet. Not to give away too much, but Zahara seemed to be learning all about the best style secrets of Angelina Jolie during these years, including the fact that you don't need excessive makeup to look gorgeous.

2017-2019: Zahara Jolie blossoms on the red carpet

While Zahara Jolie's appearance at the Nickelodeon Annual Kids' Choice Awards in 2015 was more low-key, she made her red-carpet debut in 2017 at the September premiere of "The Breadwinner," held at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, California. For the occasion, Zahara, now a tween, wore a sheer black dress that was still kept age-appropriate with a slip underneath. This was the beginning of her red-carpet fashion journey, since the next few years would be filled with similar appearances, each one giving her the chance to experiment with her style.

In March 2019, she accompanied Angelina Jolie and siblings Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne to the premiere of "Dumbo," where she wore her hair in braids and rocked a black dress with a V-neck. She shined in several other red-carpet gowns as she supported her mother's film "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" later in the year. One standout piece was the statement Tamara Ralph Chantilly lace black gown she wore to the European premiere of the film in London, England, and she brought color to the look with warm-brown highlights in her braids and teal nail polish.

That year, the family traveled back to Ethiopia, where Zahara had the chance to connect with the country's first female president Sahle-Work Zewde. While discovering more about her heritage, Zahara continued to come into her own by teaming up with LA jewelry designer Robert Procop to create the Zahara Collection line. Zahara displayed items from the line at the LA premiere of "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil," including earrings and a matching ring and bracelet. The line was carried by Saks Fifth Avenue, with proceeds going to local charity House of Ruth, marking Zahara's first successful project that mixed fashion with humanitarian work.

2020-2021: Zahara Jolie refines her red carpet style and gives back

The year 2020 saw many stars and their children retreat from the spotlight, Zahara Jolie included. But at the time, Angelina Jolie revealed that Zahara had been facing undisclosed medical challenges at the start of the year. She seemed to get through the tricky time, and by 2021, she was embracing more statement-making looks on various red carpets. Perhaps the most iconic moment in her fashion story at that point was the LA "Eternals" premiere, where Zahara wore her mother's Elie Saab Couture gown from the Oscars in 2014. Just like Angelina seven years prior, Zahara was a vision in the shimmery metallic dress. With this sartorial move, she joined the ranks of celebrity kids who have borrowed vintage outfits from their famous parents.

At just the age of 16, Zahara began to explore not only her fashion tendencies, but her passions in life. A huge part of that was her drive to give back to the community and pursue humanitarian work, and so she and Angelina met with politicians to raise awareness for the Violence Against Women Act. However, it wasn't all work and no play for Zahara, who switched up her go-to palette for the Variety Power of Women event in September. Straying from her usual dark tones, Zahara went for a monochromatic cream look consisting of slacks, a top, and a belt that cinched in her waist, paired with crisp white sneakers. Still a teenager, Zahara kept her makeup minimal, but she did express her creative side with multiple nose and ear piercings. And for anyone taking inspo from Zahara, here's our guide to ear piercing aftercare.

2022-2024: It's college time for Zahara Jolie

While some of Angelina Jolie's kids are following in her footsteps in the entertainment industry, Zahara Jolie decided to head to college in 2022. She enrolled at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, which the "Changeling" star was over the moon about. In a since-deleted Instagram post, Angelina could be seen talking to the school's president Dr. Helene Gayle, who asked her how it felt to be a Spelman mom. "I'm gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet," Angelina responded in the video, per People

But even while studying, Zahara kept up her humanitarian endeavors, traveling to Washington D.C. in December to meet lawmakers and discuss the Justice for All Reauthorization Act of 2022, which would help to protect victims of crime. Zahara continued to cultivate her style during this time, appearing in the capital with ombré blue hair. Although Zahara is a celebrity who looks just as beautiful with her natural hair, we love her neon braids, too.

A year later, Zahara joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, appearing in an Instagram video shared by Essence. But while she was clearly branching out on her own, supporting her mom (and looking super stylish while doing it) was still on her to-do list. In September 2024, Zahara attended the premiere of "Maria" (in which Angelina starred in the titular role) with her family at the New York Film Festival. There, Zahara wore a glamorous silk halter dress which evoked the elegance of Old Hollywood. Still keeping her makeup to a minimum, she finished the look off with sleek side-parted curls, classic white nails, and pearl-drop earrings.

2025-Present: Zahara Jolie experiments with her signature style

It was clear that Zahara Jolie was continuing to refine her style by 2025, when she attended the Golden Globes by her mom's side. In contrast to Angelina Jolie's silver revenge dress, which may have had the final word against Brad Pitt, Zahara wore a white scoop-neck maxi with a black tree motif. With her hair in a glamorous updo, this was one of her best looks yet, though it was nearly surpassed by the deconstructed white dress she wore to the Palm Springs International Film Awards that month. With a lace bottom, fitted bodice, and one-sided cape detail, the dress hinted at Zahara's ongoing desire to push fashion boundaries and find her own aesthetic.

White seemed to be the color of the year for Zahara, since she was twinning with her mom in the powder shade at a mother-daughter brunch that March in Montgomery, Alabama, which was held by Women in Training, Inc. Zahara was a speaker at the nonprofit event, where the focus was on support of ending period poverty.

That summer, things may have been moving along in Zahara's personal life, too. Having been linked to actor Elijah Cooper, she was spotted with a diamond ring on her left finger, leading to speculation about a possible engagement. However, nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing. Whatever the future has in store for Zahara Jolie, whether that includes an engagement or not, we're excited to see where her humanitarian work will take her, and how she will continue to develop her exciting style.
