Pics Of The Leading Ladies Of Roseanne & Their Real-Life Partners

We're used to seeing their characters' stories play out on TV, but the leading ladies who make up the iconic "Roseanne" cast have their own fascinating lives too. The hit ABC sitcom famously featured Roseanne Barr in the titular role, and her off-screen life has been anything but boring since then. Barr went through not just one, but two divorces during the show's original run from 1988 to 1997,  followed by a third divorce in the early 2000s. "Roseanne" later returned for a 10th season in 2018, only to be cancelled after Barr was terminated for a series of racist tweets. The show was later rebranded as "The Conners" and returned to ABC — this time, without Barr. Her character was killed off in the spinoff series, widowing her on-screen husband, played by John Goodman.

But Barr isn't the only female "Roseanne" cast member to have a tumultuous history, both on and off camera. A number of the show's other leading ladies, like Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and more, have had even more eventful love lives than their respective characters. From successful, decades-long marriages, to single-girl eras, these small screen stars have seen it all. After years of being entertained by these ladies on TV, we're taking a closer look at their off-camera love lives and their real-life romantic partners.

Roseanne Barr is in a long-term relationship with Johnny Argent

Barr has been in a committed relationship with longtime partner and writer Johnny Argent since 2003, though they haven't exchanged official wedding vows. The "Roseanne" star has already been married three times in her life, first to ex-husband Bill Pentland. They were married for 16 years, during which they welcomed three children, before getting divorced in 1990. Barr then sparked up a romance with second husband Tom Arnold, a fellow actor and comedian who worked on "Roseanne." The couple said "I do" just four days after Barr's divorce from Pentland, but alas, their marriage only lasted until 1994. Barr later wed Ben Thomas, her security guard, with whom she welcomed her son Buck, before they ended their marriage in 2002.

Laurie Metcalf isn't publicly dating anyone, but she has two ex-husbands

For the last few years, Laurie Metcalf has been among the numerous celebrities who have embraced being single. As of April 2026, Metcalf isn't publicly dating anyone, but she has been married twice before, first to fellow actor Jeff Perry. They were married from 1983 to 1986 and share one daughter, Zoe Perry, who has followed in both of her parents' acting footsteps. Following her first divorce, Metcalf married her "Roseanne" co-star Matt Roth, with whom she welcomed three more children, Will, Donovan, and Mae, before getting divorced in 2014.

Sara Gilbert was previously married to musician Linda Perry

Since starting out as a child star on "Roseanne," Sara Gilbert's complete transformation has been something to see — and so has her love life. She was previously married to musician Linda Perry for five years, during which they welcomed their son Rhodes Emilio, before filing for divorce in 2019. Prior to her romance with Perry, Gilbert was involved in a long-term relationship with TV producer Allison Adler, though the two never married. They spent 10 years together and welcomed two children, son Levi and daughter Sawyer, before calling it quits in 2011.

Lecy Goranson keeps her love life out of the spotlight

Unlike her character Becky Conner's extensively-covered love life on "Roseanne," Lecy Goranson's real-life relationship history is much more mysterious. Since starring on six (nonconsecutive) seasons of the original show and returning for the revived Season 10, and spinoff show, "The Conners," Goranson has remained tight-lipped about her personal romances, keeping her love life entirely out of the spotlight. While not much is known about her real-life partners, Goranson's character Becky has been involved with love interests portrayed by several different actors, including Stephen Dorff and Tobey Maguire.

Sarah Chalke is dating architect Michael Leckie

Sarah Chalke, who filled the role of Becky in Seasons 6, 7, and 9, is dating architect Michael Leckie as of April 2026. Since hard-launching their relationship on Instagram in June 2025, the two lovebirds haven't been shy to show off some PDA online, and Leckie's loved-up 2026 Valentine's Day post proves it. Prior to her romance with Leckie, Chalke was involved with Jamie Afifi, with whom she shares two children. Though Chalke and Afifi got engaged in 2006, they never married. A rep for Chalke confirmed via People in 2022 that the pair had "separated some time ago."

Estelle Parsons lost her husband of 38 years in November 2021

Industry veteran Estelle Parsons played the role of Roseanne's mother, Beverly "Bev" Harris on the hit comedy show, but her real life was much more like a romance movie. Following a five-year marriage in the '50s to first husband Richard Gehman, Parsons later found love with husband Peter Zimroth. They were married for almost 40 years before Zimroth's death in November 2021 at the age of 78. Parsons, who turned 98 in November 2025, is a mother to twin daughters she welcomed with Gehman and one son she shared with Zimroth.
