Everything Sara Gilbert's Exes Have Spilled About Her

Sara Gilbert, whose complete transformation has been something to see, has been a household name for decades. And for all the time she has spent in the spotlight, you'd expect someone, perhaps some exes, to have spilled some dirt on the unrecognizable '80s child star. For Gilbert, that's far from reality, as she's maintained a drama-free relationship with former partners. In fact, the ones who have spoken about her have always done it with the utmost respect and gratitude. 

Gilbert seems to have a special knack for making lasting connections with exes rather than fueling the kind of bitterness often seen in celeb splits. Just take a look at Johnny Galecki and Linda Perry, who are two of her exes, and choose to be her loudest advocates. Galecki, the last male partner Gilbert was with before she realized she was gay, kept her sexuality a secret for years and offered unwavering support when she came out in 2010. Gilbert recalled on "The Talk" in 2013 that Galecki told her, "I love you ... I'm so proud of you. If you want, I will be there, and I will hold your hand (via Today)." In a 2010 interview with Bullz-Eye.com, Galecki sang Gilbert's praises as an actor, noting, "You don't want to waste an actress like Sara Gilbert." He added that he and the rest of the "Big Bang Theory" cast "love having her there."

Linda Perry isn't much different. In a June 2024 promotional People interview for her documentary, the lead singer of the 4 Non Blondes characterized her and Gilbert's dynamic as exes and co-parents as being "beautiful." Perry believes Gilbert has got a way of drawing people to her because she's just so "authentic." She then proceeded to describe Gilbert as having a "heart of gold." 

While Sara Gilbert's relationships with exes Johnny Galecki and Linda Perry are publicly celebrated by one another, not every past romantic relationship has to have public attention. Sometimes, even if things ended on great terms, keeping the details of a past relationship private is the most respectful thing you can do. This is likely the case for Gilbert and producer and writer Alison Adler, who was "The Big Bang Theory" star's longest partner to date. 

Gilbert did bring up the relationship briefly during an episode of "The Talk" in 2011 as she questioned the idea of marriage, saying, "I wouldn't trade that time, it's such a special time in my life (via The Hollywood Reporter)." Of course, she was describing the years spent with Adler. This is understandable as the breakup was fresh and Gilbert was navigating a deeply personal issue while working in front of a camera. Although there were tears of sadness, there wasn't an ounce of bitterness. 

Since then, the "Roseanne" star hasn't spoken about Adler and you won't be hearing about Gilbert from the producer either. Unlike Gilbert's other exes, Adler works strictly behind the scenes and has no need to spotlight her past. Just based on the fact that the two follow each other on Instagram, which says a lot in this day and age, it's safe to assume the actor has nailed how to have successful friendships with exes.
