For many child stars who grew up under Hollywood's bright lights, a successful career in the industry as an adult hasn't always panned out, but such has not been the case for Eve Plumb. Known for starring as a middle child Jan on the hit series "The Brady Bunch," Plumb has been in the spotlight for most of her life, and her career has been nothing short of eventful. From being adored by audiences as a young girl to emerging as a teenage starlet in the '70s, Plumb's career was already off to the races by the time she hit adulthood.

She spent the next few decades expanding her acting credits on the big screen and developing a steady TV career, among some other creative ventures — she even took up professional oil painting in the '90s. Since then, Plumb has worked on a number of off-Broadway theater productions and holiday movies, and even published a memoir, "Happiness Included," in April 2026.

Similar to the glow-ups of other former child stars, like Melissa Gilbert's complete transformation after her "Little House on the Prairie" days, Plumb's evolution over the years has been quite a sight to see. Plumb has tried out myriad different style choices, from jaw-dropping photoshoot looks to drastic hair makeovers, all while staying true to the charming young actor that fans first fell in love with.

1969-1974: Eve Plumb plays the freckle-faced middle daughter Jan on The Brady Bunch

Like many child stars who are practically unrecognizable now, Eve Plumb has grown up and transformed in front of the world's eyes. She was just 11 years old when she was first cast as Jan Brady in ABC's "The Brady Brunch," and she looked entirely different back then. With long blond hair and a face full of freckles, Plumb played the middle child of Mike and Carol Brady, portrayed by Robert Reed and Florence Henderson. The iconic TV family also included sons Greg (Barry Williams), Peter (Christopher Knight), and Bobby (Mike Lookinland), plus daughters Marcia (Maureen McCormick) and the youngest, Cindy (Susan Olsen).

The series ran from 1969 to 1974, making Plumb 16 years old by the time the last season finished airing — but it was only just the beginning for Plumb's rising star. By 1981, she had returned to the role of Jan to play a more grown-up version of her character in the TV movie "The Brady Girls Get Married" and the subsequent series, "The Brady Brides." She later reprised the role again for the spinoff series "The Bradys" in 1990.

Mid '70s-1982: Eve Plumb breaks away from the child star label by embracing a mature new look

After "The Brady Bunch" wrapped in the mid-70s, Eve Plumb spent the next few years blossoming into a young woman and solidifying her status as one of those child stars who grew up to be gorgeous. When she was 18, she starred in "Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway" (1976), playing the role of a 15-year-old prostitute in Hollywood. She also appeared in the 1977 sequel, "Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn." Plumb has since credited the role as having helped prevent her from being typecast for the rest of her career, telling Fox News in 2023, "That was the giant leap that sent me from being Jan Brady to being an adult actress."

In 1982, Plumb further leaned into a more adult image, famously posing for a risqué photoshoot with celebrity photographer Harry Langdon Jr. The edgy shoot featured a scantily clad Plumb modeling a number of mature-themed looks, including one shot of her in a plunging one-piece swimsuit. With long, wavy blond hair at the time, Plumb looked like a total bombshell, also rocking a full face of makeup and a bright red lip. She even went topless for one of the portraits, which had an Adam and Eve theme and required Plumb to pose with a bitten apple in her hand and a snake wrapped around her body.

1985-2010: Eve Plumb experiments with several different hair styles and colors

Throughout her 30s and 40s, Eve Plumb tried out tons of different hair styles and colors, many of which were entirely different from the light blond hair she was known for on "The Brady Bunch." As seen in the photo on the left, taken in 1994, Plumb traded in her blond locks for a stunning shade of auburn, while also chopping off several inches of length and adding some fringed bangs. She occasionally went even darker, opting for a deep brunette color, as seen in an appearance on UPN's "The Jenny Jones Show" in 1995.

Plumb eventually found her way back to blond, though she still experimented with different styles for several years. She sported a chin-length cut for many years during the 2000s, like the choppy layered cut she had in 2004, seen in the photo on the right. Plumb continued to yo-yo between slightly varied lengths and shades throughout the following decade, and has even rocked a super-short, light blond pixie cut on occasion, as seen in one of her Instagram selfies posted in January 2016.

2010-2019: Eve Plumb switches up her look for off-Broadway stage work

In addition to her ever-evolving personal style, Eve Plumb has also been a chameleon when it comes to the characters she plays on stage, frequently slipping into costumes that completely alter her appearance. In 2019, Plumb shared an Instagram photo of her costuming for the off-Broadway show "Kris Kringle the Musical," for which she wore a bright-red wig with face-framing vintage curls, giving her a much different look from what her fans were used to seeing. Her followers seemed to think the vibrant red color suited her well, with one user noting in the comments on her post, "That color really brings out your eyes."

Plumb also looked almost unrecognizable when she appeared in the Fox television special "Grease Live!" in 2016. She portrayed the character of Rydell High School shop teacher Mrs. Murdock, and the role required her to fully transform. Plumb's costuming for the live broadcast included a voluminous, blond curly wig, and a pair of mechanic's coveralls. In some scenes, she even added a bandana in her hair to really sell the look.

2020-Present: Eve Plumb is the epitome of aging gracefully

Just like audiences have watched Eve Plumb grow up, her fans have witnessed her graceful aging process in her later years. Plumb marked her 68th birthday in April 2026, the same month that she published a book about her fascinating life, entitled "Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond." She appeared on "CBS Mornings" to promote the book at the time of its release, and she looked even more radiant than ever.

Sporting a monochrome red look for the morning show appearance on April 27, 2026, Plumb wore a power suit with a matching red blouse underneath. She even had on a chunky red necklace, as well as earrings and shoes in the same vibrant shade. Plumb also appeared to literally have gone back to her roots, sporting the same light blond hair color that she had as a young girl. Many of her fans praised her look on Instagram after the interview aired, as one follower commented, "loving this styling," and another referred to her as a "lovely lady in red."
