The Gorgeous Hair Transformation Of Bindi Irwin

Bindi Irwin has had a complete transformation over the years. The daughter of the late "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin and his wife, Terri Irwin, has grown up before our eyes, from being a cute girl on her own show, "Bindi: The Jungle Girl" to looking glamorous on "Dancing With the Stars." Bindi Irwin also looks stunning without makeup while helping run her family's Australia Zoo. The wildlife conservationist is always gorgeous, whether she is embracing her natural hair or getting it professionally styled for an event.

In a June 2019 interview with Nine.com.au, Irwin revealed that her hair routine is low maintenance: "I don't color it at all, and to be honest with you, I get a haircut like once a year." She explained that her whole routine consists of washing it and brushing it. "That's all I do, it's really boring!" she added with a laugh.

She may think it's boring, but we have to disagree — with hair this good, you don't have to do a lot! Irwin's dark blond hair is naturally pretty, whether she puts in work to style it or hardly does anything at all, and it's fun to see the way her hair looks have evolved over time. 

Bindi Irwin had the cutest blunt-cut bangs when she was a kid growing up at the Australia Zoo. In a photo taken at the Nickelodeon Australian Kids' Choice Awards in 2006, when she was 8 years old, Irwin showed off her pretty fringe with her hair crimped and put up in two ponytails.

These bangs seem to be have been Irwin's go-to hairstyle growing up (and we don't blame her parents, because it's so stinkin' cute!). Irwin has shared childhood pictures on Instagram with the same bangs, including a sweet post featuring her on the beach with her dad, Steve Irwin. She was a toddler in the picture and looked adorable with the wind blowing her long and tangled hair.

Irwin hasn't rocked blunt bangs like this since she was a child, but we can imagine they would look just as great on her as an adult as they did back then.

Bindi Irwin traded her natural look for a more glamorous appearance when she joined "Dancing With the Stars" in 2015. For the reality dancing competition, in which she won the coveted Mirrorball trophy, Irwin had her hair and makeup professionally done each week. This included plenty of pretty updos and gorgeous curls that matched well with her sparkly outfits.

In the picture on the left, taken November 2, 2015, Irwin wore her hair up, with a curly piece on one side and her fringe clipped back, giving Old Hollywood glam. In the picture on the right, taken on September 21, 2015, Irwin's hair was pulled back in a half-up, half-down look, with a big pouf on top of her head. She even had a throwback to her childhood days with pieces of her hair crimped. Irwin's hair looked gorgeous every single week, and it was such a stark contrast to her natural hairdos that she wore off the show. 

After her time on "Dancing With the Stars," Bindi Irwin kept part of her new beauty routine by stepping out with loosely curled hair. In this photo, taken at the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner in May 2017, she parted her hair in the middle. Her light-brown tresses curled around her shoulders, falling gently on either side of her face in soft, feminine waves, and the long length was super flattering on her.

Even though Irwin often curled her hair on the red carpet, while she was home, she kept things natural. In a photo shared on Instagram in December 2017, she sat with several meerkats on her lap and one on her head. Irwin's hair was a huge mess, looking tangled and frizzy as the meerkat made itself at home. In the caption, Irwin quipped, "Need some hair styling advice? I'm your girl." It just goes to show that beauty is always about finding a balance!

As an adult, Bindi Irwin has chopped her hair into a short bob multiple times. The first was in 2022, when she shared pictures on Instagram from her 24^th birthday party. People were obsessed with this cute, shorter 'do, with one person commenting, "hair goals," and another writing, "I love your new haircut, so cute." Another fan chimed in to say, "I LOVE your hair! It was beautiful long and it's smashing short — absolutely gorgeous."

Irwin cut her hair again two years later, and she showed off the short style at the Steve Irwin Gala in May 2024.She looked so cute with her hair parted in the middle and tucked behind one ear in a photo from the red carpet. Her hair hung in loose, short waves, which were flipped up at the ends. The no-fuss bob was perfect for Irwin, as it looked amazing with very little styling needed. 

After Bindi Irwin's bob grew out for the second time, she got a different type of cut: layers! In posts on Instagram with her daughter, Grace Warrior, and her husband, Chandler Powell, her dark blond-brown hair was parted on the side again and hanging in soft waves. It's cut into long layers and styled naturally in messy waves that look so soft and pretty.

Over the months since, she continued to let her hair grow, while still parting it on one side. In an April 2026 pic on Instagram, her hair looks longer, as it falls way below her shoulders. She still has one side tucked behind her ear and the other hanging loose around her face, with bangs so grown-out that it couldn't look more different from her childhood 'do. Irwin's hair transformation proves that she always looks beautiful, no matter how her hair is styled.
