Patricia Heaton Just Gave The Perfect Response To Critics Hating On Her Gray Hair

Celebs like Salma Hayek and Sally Field make the transition to gray look stunning and effortless, and Patricia Heaton is right up there with them. The "Everybody Loves Raymond" star has given up coloring her strands, and she doesn't care what naysayers think. In an Instagram reel posted on May 28, the 68-year-old shared a comment from a fan saying that she's too young to be letting her grays grow out, and Heaton had something to say about it. "Some of you seem very concerned about the silver in my hair, but let me just say, there are some things that come along in life that I've just decided to embrace, and that doesn't include boxed hair dye," Heaton declared. She obviously knew the best makeup colors to complement gray hair with her rose-colored lipstick and bronze eyeshadow, and looked just as youthful as she did during her days on "The Middle."

In 2025, Heaton posted a TikTok of herself at hairstylist Robert Ramos' salon for a new 'do, telling him that she had stopped dyeing her hair during the COVID-19 pandemic. While she wasn't there for a color change, the mom of four wanted to bring life to her locks, and in a separate post, she revealed a gorgeous lob that gave her hair some bounce. It was the perfect low-maintenance haircut for women over 40, and it showed off her silver strands even better. Many people were jumping through hoops to cover their grays during the pandemic, but Heaton completely embraced her white roots and hasn't looked back since.

Patricia Heaton thought growing her grays out was a pandemic silver lining

There were many downsides to the COVID-19 lockdowns, including our beloved salons being closed, but Patricia Heaton just rolled with it. In fact, in a clip posted on Facebook by Dr. Mehmet Oz in October 2020, the actor stated while showing a close-up of her gray roots, "I'll tell you what the silver lining is. I think you can see it." She laughed, "I'm rocking a Cruella de Vil, and I have to say, I'm kind of digging it. So I think I'm going to continue in this direction of like, not dyeing my hair anymore."

Heaton is clearly not afraid to make bold choices when it comes to her hair. In a 2023 Instagram post, she shared a fresh new look that took years off her face, captioning the pic, "Got a little too bored and cut some bangs into my hair." The wispy ends of the center hit right at her eyes as the sides gradually got longer to form mini curtain bangs. A fan replied, "You were always beautiful, and you continue to get even better. That is my goal in life. Thank you for proving that it is possible!" Heaton just proved that aging gracefully in Hollywood is totally possible.
