'Well, That's It, There He Is': Lisa Kudrow Knew Her Husband Was The One Right Away

Hollywood is notorious for high-profile divorces, but Lisa Kudrow and Michael Stern have defied all odds. While many Hollywood relationships end up on lists of celebrity couples most likely to split, the "Friends" star has been happily married to the French advertising executive for decades. The couple married in 1995 and are still together to this day, a rarity in Hollywood. Throughout the years, Kudrow has occasionally shed insights on their partnership, often emphasizing their independence as the foundation of their lasting marriage.

Their love story began when the two first met in the 1980s when Stern was dating Kudrow's roommate. She was sad that she had finally met the perfect man but she couldn't go for him. "But the minute I saw him I went, 'Well, that's it, there he is,'" she recalled (via Daily Mail). Their relationship began after Stern broke up with the roommate (the reason was never revealed but they must have noticed signs it may be time to end the relationship). Despite the unconventional start, the couple has managed to build one of the most stable marriages in the entertainment industry.

The secret to Lisa Kudrow's happy marriage

While Lisa Kudrow's certainty about Michael Stern made for a great story, the longevity of their relationship comes down to much more than that. In an interview with Glamour, she revealed that when she and Stern decided to get married, they understood that they were promising to work on whatever problems came up. "I think people get in trouble [when they assume they're] supposed to be one unit, in sync about everything," she said. "[Marriage] is like being on a team. Each teammate is different, but you have the same goal."

The couple welcomed their son, Julian Murray Stern, in 1998. Kudrow was still filming episodes of "Friends" throughout her pregnancy, which is why her character Phoebe also gets pregnant in the storyline of the show. While her son was growing up, Kudrow limited the gigs she took on. "You have to know your kid," she shared with Glamour. "[Julian] wasn't a kid [I could uproot] to New York, then London." Although Kudrow and Stern raised their son together, there are plenty of celebs who have co-parenting down to a science. Despite her high-profile job, Kudrow seems to be a champion at work-life balance, and that could be one reason behind her successful marriage.
