Kate Mara's Nearly Makeup-Free Look Is Stunning & These Pics Prove It

For a March 2026 "Imperfect Women" press promo tour, makeup artist Ruth Fernandez gave client Kate Mara, 43, props on Instagram: "Thank you for letting me play," she wrote. That seems to perfectly encompass Mara's view on beauty — she's always ready for a bit of envelope-pushing and experimentation. We've seen her sample most hair lengths and colors, from platinum blonde to ginger to brunette, so much so that she's at times unrecognizable with her natural hair color. Plus, we've seen her sample heavy eye makeup and bold red lips, never shying away from a full face look. So when she posted a photo to Instagram in May with a bare face, people started talking.

The pic was taken on a carousel at Disney World on Mother's Day weekend and features the "Fantastic Four" star looking stunning with almost no makeup. While she appears to have lash extensions or some kind of eyelash enhancer, the rest of her face looks makeup-free. Her fans were here for it, praising how great the mom-of-two looked. "Do you ever age? Such perfection!" wrote a follower in the comments.

Kate Mara's lifestyle may be contributing to her makeup-free glow

Kate Mara, along with her sister Rooney Mara, has been a vocal advocate for a vegan lifestyle and an animal rights supporter. The two sisters are involved in a number of organizations, including Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection. While promoting this cause, Mara posted this makeup-free pic to Instagram in December 2020.

How far does her vegan devotion extend? Mara has spoken about giving up leather fashion pieces, but she doesn't exclusively wear vegan beauty products. She does, however, eat a plant-based diet. Research has shown that going vegan can positively affect your skin and hair, which may be part of the secret to the star's glowing complexion. She's also a devoted exerciser and wears SPF religiously. This is a key habit to ensure a great-looking skin a decade from now, so it must be crucial to Kate's healthy skin. In the past, the "A Teacher" actor has said that her off-duty look includes only three makeup products: A tinted moisturizer, an eyebrow pencil, and mascara. This simplicity has proven to deliver stunning results.
