Drew Barrymore's 2 C-Sections Took A Toll On Her Body But She's Learning To Love It Again

Drew Barrymore is known for the heartfelt approach she brings to interactions on her daytime talk show. So leave it up to the "Charlie's Angels" star to bring on the transparency when engaging with guest Dawn Benwood in April 2026 who shared her body insecurities following a 75-pound weight loss, per USA Today. It was during a "Scared to Wear" segment when Barrymore got emotionally candid about her own body image issues after welcoming both of her daughters via cesarean section (C-section).

"The other day, I was walking down the street, and I've had two C-sections, and I'm so wrecked down there that I permanently just ... I can't wear a lot of different types of pants," Barrymore said through tears. She recalled a time when she had worn a shorter top and couldn't keep her jacket closed, heightening her worry over her abdomen showing. "I don't want anyone to see this," Barrymore recalled thinking to herself. She now credits her daughters with helping her feel good in her clothes by trying new styles and pairings. "Listen, you know what my daughter does? She encourages me to dress differently. And a lot of the times I feel really good ... We all can find something that fits us right," Barrymore told her audience.

In February 2020, Barrymore shared a candid Instagram post about her postpartum body journey, with a side-by-side photo showing her pregnant and a modern slimmed-down image of the actor wearing a red dress. "I go up and I go down. The rollercoaster of my body is a challenging, but beautiful ride," she wrote. Barrymore's secret is the "elusive B called BALANCE," she added. Balance is especially important to Drew Barrymore, who grew up without boundaries.

Drew Barrymore has spoken about her weight-loss journey in the past

Drew Barrymore doesn't shy away from transparency when it comes to her physical appearance, especially when it comes to her postpartum weight-loss journey. In 2018, Drew Barrymore, who looks flawless without makeup, shared a series of photos that gave a glimpse into the hard work and dedication she put into losing 25 pounds in three months. "Here is me in a before pose and then 25 pounds later in the same place. You can tell my face is so much thinner!" she wrote (via People). The before photo showed Barrymore exercising while looking somewhat pained, while the newer photo showed a much slimmer version of the actor doing the same move without any stress showing on her face. "This takes me so much work," she explained. "Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it! Damn you genetics!" Despite the sarcasm, it was one of the pics of Drew Barrymore that prove she's aging like fine wine.

Barrymore echoed her disdain for diet and exercise during a 2018 appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," saying, "Let's face it, I hate it. I would much rather eat fettuccine alfredo all day long." The actor was starring in "Santa Clarita Diet" at the time when opening up about her fluctuating weight. While she stuck to a vegan diet during filming, Barrymore admitted that she easily put the weight back on. "I'm a foodie, and love food and I travel the world for food, and so I get heavy again between the show," she shared.
