Lindsay Lohan's Love For Her Post-Partum Body Shows Just How Far She's Come

Being a teen star in the time of dangerous diet culture in the early 2000s couldn't have been easy, but now that Lindsay Lohan is a mom, she is not subscribing to the "thin is better" narrative. The "Freaky Friday" star has spoken out against the pressure to "snap back" after having baby Luai, born in 2023, with husband Badar Shammas. Her positive, healthy attitude shows how far she's come in her self-love journey — and reaffirms how diet culture harms our body image more than we imagine.

In a 2024 interview with Bustle, Lohan commented on what she's seen in Hollywood lately. "Everyone's getting so thin now," she told the outlet about the unspoken rule to look a certain way in the industry. However, raising her son helped her see things differently. "I was so attached to [Luai] that my last thought was going on a treadmill," she added. "I feel like we put so much pressure on ourselves to have to look 'good' so soon, but you look so beautiful [postpartum]. Give yourself time."

Yes, queen! New moms are usually dealing with postpartum hair loss, postpartum cramps, sleep deprivation, and — don't forget — the challenge of raising a newborn baby. With all these on their plate, who has time to worry about running on a treadmill or lifting weights? Despite not stressing about her post-baby body, Lohan has returned to acting and is more visible than ever, with several films released after Luai was born. She starred in "Irish Wish" and "Our Little Secret" in 2024, "Freakier Friday" in 2025, and shot her first-ever leading role in a scripted TV series, "Count My Lies."

Lindsay Lohan struggled with body image in the past

Lindsay Lohan's postpartum acceptance of her body is a far cry from how she thought of her body in the past. In a 2006 interview with Vanity Fair, the then-19-year-old got vulnerable about her struggles with bulimia. "I was making myself sick," she told the outlet, adding that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey had a sort of intervention with her that made her cry.  "I knew I had a problem and I couldn't admit it," she said, adding, "You have to learn for yourself and you have to hit rock bottom sometimes to get yourself back up to the top."

Now that she's a mom, the "Parent Trap" star is embracing her postpartum body and all the wonderful things it's done to make her a mother, just like fellow Y2K star Hilary Duff, whose feelings about her body were reframed after motherhood. In an August 2023 Instagram photo that has since been deleted, Lohan wore Frida Mom postpartum underwear and a blue tank top (per People). "I am so proud of what this body was able to accomplish during these months of pregnancy and now, recovery," she wrote in the caption, adding, "Having a baby is the greatest joy in the world!"

The "Mean Girls" star has also opened up about how strong she felt as a mom. "After giving birth, you realize, as women, how strong we are," she told E! News in 2024. "We forget to give ourselves credit for that." Yes, Lohan definitely seems happier, and we love seeing her in her self-improvement era.
