Mila Kunis And Ashton Kutcher Have Totally Different Approaches To Life - But The Balance Works
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher had long been co-workers and friends before dating in 2012, but that gave them plenty of time to get to know each other. After playing on-screen boyfriend and girlfriend in "That '70s Show," the two reconnected years later when they were both single and ready to take their friendship to another level, even when being very different from each other.
Now, as a married couple, they're able to laugh about the differences in their personalities, with Kunis, who had a stunning style transformation, sharing on "Live with Kelly and Ryan" (now "Live with Kelly and Mark") in 2019 why it works for her and Kutcher. "He's much more logical than I am. He's also very optimistic, and I'm very pessimistic," she explained. The "Black Swan" star added, "He sees the world and sees all the good in the world and all the good in the people. And I'm like Debbie Downer. I'm like, 'That's not true. Here's why everything you think is wrong.' But I think there's a balance between [us]."
Although Kunis described Kutcher as "logical," he seems to think she's the "sensible" one, per ET. "I'm a dreamer, she's an executor, and that would be like the opposite functions that we serve," the "Punk'd" creator shared with the outlet in 2023. One could argue that Kutcher and Kunis may have some red flags in their relationship, but they seem to balance each other out, and as parents, that's a very important dynamic to have.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher also have opposite parenting styles
Mila Kunis may be charismatic, but that doesn't mean you should mess with her. She's instilling her no-nonsense personality in her daughter, Wyatt. For example, by teaching her not to get bullied. In an interview with "The Ellen Show" in 2022, Kunis recalled a kid who pushed Wyatt in preschool, and her immediate response was to ask if she pushed back. When her daughter said she didn't, the mom of two advised her to do so, while saying, "No, thank you," and then walking away. Kunis continued, "And I turn around and I see Ashton's face, and he was like, 'No!'"
Ashton Kutcher admitted that he handles his daughter differently than his son, and while on "Throwbacks with Matt Leinart and Jerry Ferrara" in 2025, he stated, "When my son cries, I'm like, 'All right.' You know, 'Good ... what did we learn. Let's move on.' And when my daughter cries, it's like my heart is out of my body and I can't put it back in." Kutcher went on to say that his wife is also very different with their kids, noting that Kunis is stricter with Wyatt, but a lot softer with their son, Dimitri. "I think we balance each other in that way," the "Butterfly Effect" star reflected. It seems like they both have everything figured out, and if they were ever to split, they would be one of those celeb couples that have co-parenting to a science. For now, we think they're Hollywood's definite proof that opposites attract.
