'Breakups Are Not A Failure': Jennifer Lopez Wants To Flip The Script On Relationship Splits

Despite the toll four failed marriages might have on the average person, Jennifer Lopez is maintaining a seemingly positive and healthy outlook on relationship splits. The "Office Romance" actor's ex-husbands include Ojani Noa (married from 1997 to 1998), Cris Judd (married from 2001 to 2002), Marc Anthony (married from 2004 to 2014), and Ben Affleck (married from 2022 to 2025). "Breakups are not a failure," she said on a June 2026 episode of "Subway Takes." She added, "I honestly feel like it's a launchpad into your next best self. We should have a party when we break up. People should say, 'You broke up? Congratulations.' Because one, you made a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody."  

Several of her relationships reportedly ended due to her partners cheating on her. This includes her ex Alex Rodriguez, whom she realized she couldn't trust amid their engagement. Former backup dancer Casper Smart also reportedly cheated on Lopez during their relationship, which lasted from 2011 to 2016. Jennifer Lopez, whose post-divorce style proves she's dressing for revenge, also noted that the person who gets their heart broken in a relationship is the winner, as they're more likely to be the one to learn something from the experience. 

Jennifer Lopez, one of the ladies over 40 who completely stunned at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, looks at break ups as an opportunity to learn something and grow as a person. During an interview on "The Howard Stern Show," Lopez revealed that she's learned not to equate someone's inability to love her properly with her self worth. "When I got divorced this last time, it was the best thing that ever happened to me," she explained to Stern, referencing her split from fellow actor Ben Affleck. "Because it really made me journey into — I mean, I had a religious coach, I had a therapist, a couple's therapist, an individual therapist, I had a coach to understand addiction. Like, I had everything."  

The duo, who met on the set of "Gigli," were engaged from 2002 to 2004, split, then reunited in 2021. Affleck gave Lopez two of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings in the world, spending a total of $7 million on both of them. The divorce settlement stipulated that Lopez did get to keep the second ring after the breakup, and the two reportedly remain on good terms as they allow their kids from previous relationships to still spend time together.
