Then & Now: What Partridge Family Star Shirley Jones Looks Like Decades After The Show
Decades after she sang hit tunes like "I Think I Love You" and "Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted" with her fellow cast members of ABC's "The Partridge Family," actor Shirley Jones is still going strong in her golden years. The then-91-year-old was pictured in a May 2025 Instagram post alongside her daughter-in-law Tracey Lynne Turner.
Like the titular group featured in her signature TV sitcom, Jones' strong family ties were asserted by her by her son Shaun Cassidy's loving Mother's Day ode to her. "Big Mother's Day toast to all the great mamas out there from two of the best!" Cassidy wrote. In the photo, Jones lit up the room with her joyful expression, complete with bright-red lipstick to further brighten her already-glowing smile. Like her TV counterpart Shirley Partridge, Jones was still rocking a layered pixie cut, but now she was among the celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair.
Cassidy paid homage to his mom earlier that year with an Instagram post focusing the spotlight entirely on her. "Took mom out to lunch to celebrate her 91st trip around the sun, though I've often felt like the sun spins around her," Cassidy wrote of Jones. "Happy Birthday Mom!" Jones' shining smile and cheerful eyes could have been spotted from miles away, while she kept the occasion casual with a simple purple sweatshirt. With spirits as bright as hers, one could argue the sun does, indeed, revolve around her.
No matter how she wears her hair, Shirley Jones has always glowed
Back when she was commanding sets and screens in iconic Hollywood musicals like "The Music Man" and "Oklahoma," Shirley Jones was ahead of her contemporaries when it came to capturing audiences' hearts and minds with her hypnotic voice, infectious glee, and signature look. "People Will Say We're In Love" with her appearance, both then and now. Such people are undoubtedly correct, when it comes to both her glamorous makeup look and her go-to hairstyle.
In Jones' earlier career, she could be seen sporting a longer blond hairdo, though her pale complexion and cosmetic choices would remain consistent through a sizable portion of her life. In 1975, she attended an Emmys event with her long hair pulled into a curled side ponytail, leaving her curtain bangs on full display. However, this may have been the work of a hairpiece, since when Jones starred in "The Partridge Family," between 1970 and 1974, she typically appeared on screen and in public with a blond pixie, which is a game-changer haircut for women over 60. Regardless of which eras of her life and work fans are familiar with her for, Jones is among the legendary ladies of Hollywood who looked great both in their breakout roles and in their 90s. One cannot deny she looked beautiful and joyous throughout each chapter of her life, and that sentiment still sings loud and proud today.
