Pamela Anderson has chosen to blaze new trails in Hollywood by going makeup-free. The decision followed many years serving as a cultural icon, with her looks being central to her brand after her Playboy cover debut in 1989. When debuting the makeup-free look at Paris Fashion Week in 2023, Anderson didn't think it would become such a hot topic. "I'm makeup-free at home, so why not for Paris Fashion Week?" she told People at the time. "I really didn't know anyone would notice it, but I'm glad it became a positive message." Despite the modesty, she looked stunning, with this debut ranking among the times Pamela Anderson went makeup-free and looked flawless.

Letting go of makeup fully aligned with the comfort Anderson has with growing older. "I call if Life-ing, not aging," she told People, too. "Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now."

Pamela Anderson's transition to going glam-free saw the "Baywatch" star reclaim her power and let go of the beauty-driven persona that fueled the early start of her career. "[Going bare-faced] was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself," she told Better Homes & Gardens in 2024. "What is this cartoon character that I'd created? Okay, that was fun. But I'm not that person anymore." 

When making the beauty shift, Anderson had already started to return to her roots by moving back to her native Canada, buying and renovating her grandmother's old motel, reclaiming her grandfather's garden, and perfecting her baking skills, which were highlighted in her cookbook. When deciding to attend Paris Fashion Week with no makeup, Anderson was in a place of comfort with her natural self and wanted to set a new trend in Hollywood. "I started thinking that I want to challenge the idea of beauty and this mask we put on. As soon as I took the mask off, the whole world opened up," she told the outlet.
