'80s Child Stars Who Grew Up To Be Gorgeous

When it comes to child stars from the '80s, we don't always have a clear view of their later years, as many of them faded from the limelight once they hit adulthood. But some stuck it out and, right before our eyes, blossomed into not just talented people, but gorgeous ones too (even if a few of these '80s child stars are practically unrecognizable now). However, because growing up in the public eye is far from easy, whoever can make it to the other side in one piece deserves a round of applause — especially the women. Hollywood has never been particularly kind to women in the industry, often treating them as though they're 80 when they're only 40.

One of those stunning '80s child stars who's been open about getting older — and positively so — is Drew Barrymore. "Aging is a privilege," Barrymore wrote over video she posted on Instagram in December 2025. "It is not something to fear." While it would be amazing if everyone could feel that way, unfortunately, we live in a culture that tends to set an expiration date for women's looks.

But because we're not buying that narrative for even one minute — and neither should you — we've put together a list of child stars from the 1980s who are now in their 40s and 50s, and still stunning. Although some have opted to delve into the world of cosmetic procedures so much so that they practically have a PhD in knowing the difference between Botox and fillers, others have steered clear. The point is they've aged on their own terms, and that's what matters most.

Christina Applegate's fantastic style is because she's not afraid to be herself

While her years of playing Kelly Bundy on "Married... with Children" may be behind her, Christina Applegate still has a lot of fun style left in her — which probably comes from her being so self-aware. "One of the benefits that comes with getting older is you start to have a much better understanding of what works on you and what doesn't," Applegate told People in December 2020. "There are a million trends and not all of them will work on you... Learn to embrace what works best for you as an individual."

Keshia Knight Pulliam's secret to gorgeous hair is hydration

Keshia Knight Pulliam was just five years old when she landed the role of Ruby Huxtable on "The Cosby Show" in 1984. Although the majority of her work in recent years has been playing herself on a series of reality shows, because she's still in the public eye, she makes sure her hair always looks great. "My hair is naturally curly, I don't have a relaxer. I just use really good products..." Pullman told Essence in March 2013, adding she uses a curl conditioner by Miss Jessie's and raw coconut oil from Whole Foods.

Alyssa Milano has been honest about her cosmetic procedures

While there are plenty of famous people who will deny they've had any cosmetic work until their last breath, there's a boatload of celebrities who've opened up about their plastic surgery experience, and Alyssa Milano is one of them. After getting her start as Sam Micelli on "Who's the Boss?" in 1984, Milano went on to star in other series, including "Charmed" in 1998. While Milano doesn't act much these days, she's been open about using Botox on TikTok and having her breast implants removed, posting a pre-surgery photo in September 2025 on Instagram explaining her decision.

Soleil Moon Frye has learned to accept her body

From 1984 to 1988, Soleil Moon Frye played the adorable and spunky Punky Brewster on the series of the same name. Although she appeared in other major TV series in her career, it's "Punky Brewster" that Frye will always be best remembered for. But hitting puberty in the public eye wasn't a good experience for Frye, who developed breasts early. "Everywhere I went I was called Punky Boobster, and people would stare directly at my boobs," Frye told People in March 2021. Ultimately, Frye decided to get a breast reduction, helping her to develop a positive body image for herself.

Drew Barrymore has become an advocate for perimenopause

If you've ever wondered what you should know about perimenopause, tune into "The Drew Barrymore Show," and you'll get a candid glimpse from Drew Barrymore herself. Now 51, Barrymore has been using her platform to highlight the realities of perimenopause. "Everyone said it would be trial and error, and I just went through a lot of error," Barrymore told People in November 2025 about hormone therapy, adding that she'd stopped recognizing herself. "Every time I feel that way, I'm like, 'Okay, buckle down,'" said Barrymore, explaining that eating cleaner and prioritizing sleep have helped on her perimenopause journey.

Molly Ringwald swears by retinol for her flawless skin

When you have Molly Ringwald's complexion, making sure it's flawless requires a lot of upkeep that goes far beyond choosing the best sunscreen for your skin. "I try lots of different things, but the thing that I use no matter what is retinol," Ringwald told Town and Country in February 2024, adding that her sister is an aesthetician who made her aware of how essential it is. "Sometimes I'll throw in Vitamin C or some of the other stuff you're supposed to do, but the retinol is non-negotiable... and I always wear sunscreen," Ringwald explained.

Danica McKellar owes her ageless beauty to staying away from artificial foods

Best known for playing Winnie Cooper on "The Wonder Years," from 1988 to 1993, when Danica McKellar finished filming the series, she put acting on hold so she could become a mathematics writer, of all things. Now 51, McKellar doesn't look much different from her Winnie Cooper years. "For face soap, I use this stuff called Aiona Alive," McKellar told Today in June 2018. "For moisturizer, I use Lala Retro by Drunk Elephant." McKellar also explained she rarely drinks alcohol, stays away from coffee and soda, and steers clear of anything artificial.

Lisa Bonet owes her complexion to her facialist

Like Keshia Knight Pulliam, Lisa Bonet has "The Cosby Show" to thank for her career. For six seasons, Bonet played the eldest daughter of the family, Denise Huxtable, eventually moving on to "A Different World" in 1987. At 58, Bonet attributes her beautiful skin to her facialist, Dayle Breault. "I use pretty active things at night to keep the cells turning over," Bonet told The New York Times in June 2016, adding she uses a scrub by her facialist or a peel by Rhoda Allison, but it really depends on what her skin needs on any given day.

Winona Ryder has opted out of tweakments

If you're ever looking for some moody fashion inspiration, there's a throwback snap of Winona Ryder for that. As an icon of the 1990s, Ryder came into prominence following her film debut in 1985's "Lucas," when she was just 15, and now, at 54, she's still one of the most gorgeous child stars from the 1980s — and that's without any tweaking. "People almost say it like it's a hygiene thing, but I don't like how it looks," Ryder told Vogue in June 2020 regarding Botox. "I'm a little too fearful that it could go wrong."
