Remember '60s & '70s Star Shirley MacLaine? Here's What She Looks Like Now

Shirley MacLaine's natural beauty, undeniable talent, and bold uniqueness have carried her Hollywood career over half a century. One of the legendary ladies of Hollywood, now in her 90s, MacLaine continues to remain a trailblazing fixture in the industry. When making a rare appearance at the inaugural Dance Hall of Fame induction ceremony in December 2025 to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award named in her honor, MacLaine professed her love for the art form and how it has sustained her throughout her storied career. "Getting an award for dancing is the most important acknowledgement I could have. I mean that," she said during her speech (per People).

Accepting the award at age 91 after more than 50 years performing on screen and stage, MacLaine credits dance with keeping her healthy enough to accept such an accolade in person; a testament to why you should take an adult dance class. "My mother took me to dancing class when I was three because I had weak ankles and I fell in love with it," she shared. "But here's what it also included: discipline, love of music, a sense of cooperation with other people, being on time. And from that day on, I went to class every day until in my sixties. I would have to say that dance ... is why I'm still here."

For her appearance at the Dance Hall of Fame ceremony, MacLaine was dressed in classy all-black, with her signature short hair and a pop of dark red on her lips. She looked every bit the Hollywood icon, but while her looks have been celebrated throughout her career, MacLaine has always seen things differently. "I wasn't afraid of getting old, because I was never a great beauty. I was never a sex symbol," she commented previously (via The Independent). Agree to disagree, Shirley.

Shirley MacLaine is as passionate about spirituality as she is about dance

Shirley MacLaine is fully aware of how intrigued many are by her talent, insight, and eccentric beliefs, and as a result, the actor has documented much of her life, career, and spirituality in the more than 15 books she's written over the last 40+ years. In 1983, the same year she filmed "Terms of Endearment," which earned her a Best Actress award at the Oscars, MacLaine released "Out on a Limb," a pioneering book within the New Age Movement that delved into her spirituality and belief in reincarnation, in particular. MacLaine's book was a personal look at her beliefs and made her popular with those whose interests lean towards practices like making spiritual altars at home.

When she came out with another book in 2024, "The Wall of Life," MacLaine revisited the release of her 1983 book, highlighting the praise she received for her courageous approach to spirituality. "I was never nervous about being open about any of that; people came up to me regularly and said the book changed their life, knowing that someone else thought the same way or believed the same truth," she told People.

"The Wall of Life" was inspired by the actor's own wall of photos in her home, and how she's come to view her life and career. "I've had an enchanted life," she said. "By looking at my wall that day, I realized the enchantment. I really have, and I really mean it. I felt that way. So it's something that comes out of appreciation."
