A Look At Bindi Irwin's Beauty Evolution Through The Years
Bindi Irwin's known for many things, from animal conversation to her infectious zest for life to the way she's carrying on late father Steve Irwin's legacy. But the conservationist and reality star has admitted that her image isn't exactly at the top of the list, nor is it her highest priority. "Robert is the fashionable Irwin," she told Us Weekly in 2024. She might not be a glamazon, but Bindi always looks gorgeous, and she's refined her beauty game over the years.
Having started out as her dad's mini-me in khaki, she did explore different beauty looks as she navigated her teenage years. She waltzed across the world stage in 2015 when she was a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars," and during that time she leaned into higher-glam makeup with studio-ready heavier coverage and intricate hairstyles to match. However, even when she was still in her teens, Bindi embraced a beauty philosophy that many women don't reach until they're much older. "Beauty is not just found on the outside, it's the kindness you share with others and the positivity you embrace every day," she wrote on Instagram in 2016 after being named on Maxim's Hot 100 list. "If your core values revolve around love and light, you are a beautiful person."
In a key part of Bindi Irwin's complete transformation, she wore a beat face and experimented with a hair braid to celebrate Steve Irwin posthumously receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. "Always sit in front of a window with real sunlight to do your makeup," she advised fans in 2019, while speaking to Australia's Nine. "It makes a world of difference." In the interview, Bindi admitted that she prefers a natural makeup look, which consists of just eyeliner, brow shadow, and lip balm.
Bindi Irwin prefers a natural beauty routine
After marrying Chandler Powell in March 2020, Bindi Irwin welcomed her daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell in March 2021. As is the case with every mom, Bindi's life shifted as she moved into parenthood, and her already minimal makeup game seemed to take a back seat. "I do not like getting dressed up for fancy events," she told Kylie Kelcie on the "Not Gonna Lie" podcast in June 2025. "I am not fond of having to put on makeup and a dress and shave my legs."
However, given what Bindi revealed about her at-home skincare routine during her 2019 interview with Nine, we doubt whether her simple regimen changed too much after motherhood. After citing both Grace Kelly and her mom, Terri Irwin, as her idols, she admitted that next to nothing goes into her skincare game. "I use really natural face wipes and then I use just regular water and a wash cloth," she told the outlet, also noting that she doesn't heat-style her hair or pluck her eyebrows. Still, Bindi Irwin is so stunning without makeup, and the only specific product the conservationist mentioned was the Frank Body A-Beauty Scrub, on which she collaborated with the brand. "Sometimes I can be covered in all kinds of things from mud and dirt to rhino and giraffe saliva," she explained. "So I use A-Beauty Scrub at the end of the day to get a little bit dirty while I'm using the coffee scrub and then I feel so clean and fresh and I finally smell good."
We doubt whether Bindi's skincare or makeup routine will be getting too much more complex in the future, since her beauty beliefs have been clear from the beginning: "I think that your inner glow shines outward."
