Kelly Clarkson Doesn't Sweat The Single Life: 'I Am So Glad I'm Going Home Alone'
Singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson is really glad to be single — but it's not for the reason you might think. During her July 24 residency show at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace, the mom of two told the audience that she isn't sweating the single life. "People are like, 'Oh, why are you single?' And I'm like, 'First of all, there are a lot of people out here making single look real good'" (via E! News)
And just in case anyone would mistake her statement for a simple single life shout-out or a testament to why everyone needs a single-girl era, Clarkson was quick to clarify. "If you didn't really understand what I meant by that, it's like you see relationships and you're like, 'I am so glad I'm going home alone.' You know what's not happening in my house? That s**t." Sometimes all it takes is witnessing an unhealthy relationship to make you appreciate being single.
Clarkson is one of many celebrities who have embraced being single, but she hasn't always offered such a humorous take, and her comments at another show in July 2025 felt a little more personal. "Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don't," she said (via TikTok). "I'm like, it's hard anyway. Add a spotlight, and it's just... a dumpster fire."
Kelly Clarkson is focused on her kids, not dating
Beyond the inherent woes of dating, Kelly Clarkson is single for another reason that single parents might find all too familiar: her children. The vocal powerhouse sat down with KOST 103.5 in 2024 to discuss relationships and revealed that her kids have directly asked her not to date anyone. "They constantly bring it up, you know? 'Please, we don't want you to be with anybody else,'" she said. "You know they're young so it's hard to picture their mom with someone else other than their dad," she explained. We certainly don't blame them. Some of Kelly Clarkson and ex-husband Brandon Blackstock's best red carpet moments had fans convinced they'd be together forever.
The singer, however, revealed that she gently pushes back on her children's request. "I have expressed like, 'Hey, I love you guys, but Mommy needs lovings, too.'" Sadly, less than a year after the interview, Blackstock passed away. Although Clarkson hasn't spoken much about how her kids are coping after such a devastating loss, the singer has expressed that she and her children are getting through it together.
On the bright side, Clarkson told KOST 103.5 that while she's not currently looking for the perfect match, she's still holding out for her happily ever after. "I think the hope of that is really beautiful and wonderful and magical. Imagination Station is a wonderful thing."
