Vanessa Williams' Post-Divorce Transformation Has Been A Sight To See
Throughout her four-decade-long career, Vanessa Williams has done it all. Emerging onto the entertainment scene as the first Black woman to be crowned Miss America, Williams went on to build a celebrated career spanning music, stage, and screen. Now, years post-divorce, the Tony-nominated performer is doing better than ever. While her split from ex-husband Jim Skrip was drama-free, Williams told People in 2024 that she's content being solo and has fallen "in love with life." "I love my freedom. I love being alive, having options in my life, and being surrounded by beautiful things, great people, and wonderful opportunities," she told the outlet. Before her marriage to Skrip in 2015, Williams was married to Roman Hervey II from 1987 to 1997 — with whom she shares four children, including her daughter Jillian Hervey, who grew up to be gorgeous like her mom — and to former basketball star Rick Fox from 1999 to 2004.
Post-divorce, Williams has been spotted looking even more stunning than before. While the former pageant queen has always been gorgeous, Williams' single era has given her a particular glow. She made a stylish appearance at the Wimbledon Championships in July 2026 and, unlike the worst-dressed attendees at Wimbledon 2026, the "Ugly Betty" actor donned a perfectly preppy ensemble that provided us ample summer outfit inspiration. Williams wore a collared day dress covered in a bold orchid pattern from Karen Millen, which she toned down with a basic pair of oversized sunnies and a sleek ponytail. "The Right Stuff" singer's complexion was as flawless as ever, confirming that Williams is thriving as a single woman.
Vanessa Williams has honed her music career and beauty routine alike in the years after her divorce
While Vanessa Williams further honed her beauty and style in the years after her divorce from Jim Skrip, she has also maintained her successful career in the arts. Williams released "Survivor," her ninth album, in 2024. The record hit the shelves 15 years after her last album "The Real Thing" debuted in 2009. Williams produced "Survivor" through her own record company, Mellian Music (a portmanteau of her daughters Melanie and Jillian), after talks with other studios fell through. Given the stunning music video outfits from pop stars in their 40s and beyond we've seen lately, we were incredibly pleased to see Williams' gorgeous looks in the music video for one of the "Survivor" tracks, "iLike Moonlight."
How does Williams maintain her stunning appearance for her various musical projects? She has a solid beauty routine — and the best part is she doesn't gatekeep. During a 2022 interview with People, Williams broke down the items she can't live without. One of Williams' favorite skincare products is the Derrick Rutledge Aura Glow Serum. "I find my skin does better with a moisturizing oil than a cream. It just soaks it in," Williams said in the interview, going on to explain that she uses the serum every night. In addition to the Aura Glow serum, the singer uses Flowerkist Botanical Brightening Serum as well as the Vivier Vitamin C Scrub to help smooth texture. Williams' makeup essentials are very light so as to subtly highlight her flawless complexion, like the Skin Perfecting Tint from Hi Beautiful You. Williams keeps her beauty routine simple and non-fussy, allowing her post-divorce glow to peek through.
