Here's What Family Ties Star Tina Yothers Looks Like Today

Fans remember her for playing the younger sister Jennifer Keaton on the hit sitcom "Family Ties" in the '80s, but Tina Yothers is all grown up now — and, like the other leading ladies of "Family Ties," you might not even recognize her today. Only 9 years old when she began starring on the show alongside on-screen family members Michael J. Fox, Meredith Baxter, Michael Gross, and Justine Bateman, Yothers first captured audiences' hearts as an adorable child with bright blond hair and thick-cut bangs. She morphed into a teenager during the show's run, transitioning into her signature '80s look with an ultra-teased curly hairstyle in later seasons. After "Family Ties" ended in 1989, Yothers briefly dabbled in other acting projects before largely disappearing from the spotlight, only occasionally stepping out for public appearances.

Like many other child stars who grew up to be gorgeous, Yothers has visibly evolved since her days on "Family Ties." She no longer rocks the long, voluminous, and bleach-blond hairstyle she once had, and has since opted for more of a honey-blond color and a sleek bob instead. The photo above was taken in November 2023 when she attended an event put on by Fox, her former TV brother. In the pics from the event, Yothers can be seen with a chin-length bob in a warm blond shade, while her once curly locks were replaced by straight, silky strands. While she may not have been easy to recognize as the actor who played Jennifer Keaton for years, Yothers still had the same sparkly blue eyes and flattering front bangs that fans know and love.

Tina Yothers strayed away from her blond roots after Family Ties ended

Just like her fellow unrecognizable '80s actor Justine Bateman, Tina Yothers has gone through a few different transformations. In the years after the show wrapped, Yothers began experimenting with various hairstyles and colors as she grew into adulthood, majorly switching things up from her days as Jennifer Keaton. By 2000, Yothers had completely strayed away from her signature blond-haired look, and dyed her hair jet black instead. The photograph above shows Yothers attending the Radio Music Awards in November 2000, rocking a chic black haircut with long bangs that partially covered her eyes. She also seemed to be leaning into a more gothic, vampy appearance, opting for dark lipstick with a deep purple hue and heavy eyeliner for the occasion.

Around the same time, Yothers had formed a rock band called Jaded, making for the perfect opportunity to adopt a darker and edgier style. Her band dropped an album titled "Confessions" in 2000, which features a photo of Yothers with dark hair on the cover. A few years later, Yothers had continued pursuing her musical talent and acting chops when she performed in "Lovelace: The Musical" in 2004, for which she also maintained dark, shoulder-length hair. Yothers kept her hair dyed black for the next several years, including for a red carpet reunion with the rest of her "Family Ties" co-stars in 2011. She was photographed with the same black hair as late as 2012, though she has since reverted back to blond locks.
