One Of Summer 2026's Biggest Colors Will Slide Into Your Fall Wardrobe Seamlessly

What was once considered a dad's favorite color has been this summer's biggest shade, and you don't have to let go of it yet once the season's over. Khaki, a transitional fashion trend to take you from summer to fall 2026, is super easy to incorporate into your cool-weather wardrobe. Personal stylist and color analysis expert Brooke Ann exclusively tells Glam, "You can easily style [khaki] with fall pieces. For example, your khaki pants with your favorite knit sweater. Easy and classic."

Because the color khaki goes with anything, you can pretty much style it with anything in your closet. For the fall, however, Brooke suggests a certain color palette. "You can never go wrong pairing khaki with earth tones such as forest green, milk chocolate, and beige," she shares. "However, I'm excited to see something different this year with this trend!" If you want tips for infusing more color into your wardrobe, our expert shared, "Adding a pop of color like icy blue, another trending color, or even mustard yellow, which can nicely add character to your outfit while using khaki as your neutral base color. Say bye to the basic khaki and welcome in new looks." And it's not just pants we're talking about. Designers are incorporating the light brown shade into innovative pieces, so you'll have tons of options this fall.

Don't just limit your fall wardrobe to khaki pants

Khaki pants may be a staple in your wardrobe, and it's easy to gravitate toward them, as they're a cinch to style, but think outside the box for fall 2026. "If we're being honest, when we hear khaki, most people think of khaki pants, which have been one of the most popular items over the years. You will still see them around, but they are starting to feel boring," stylist Brooke Ann exclusively shares with Glam. She adds, "What I'm excited to see are unique tops and outerwear with interesting silhouettes in this color, such as this top from By Efrain Mogollon."

For a classic take on khaki, a cotton trench is the fall's trendiest lightweight outerwear option. If you want an updated look, get one with a shorter length. "The proportions are magic and do all the work. Defined waist and legs for days," fashion designer Carla Rockmore shared with Refinery29. Try surprising combinations, like a trench with leather detailing, which will give you a sophisticated edge. Khaki may have been huge in summer 2026, but we're betting it'll get even bigger this fall with fashionistas incorporating it in all sorts of inventive ways.
