The Real-Life Partners Of Nobody Wants This' Leading Ladies

The Netflix series "Nobody Wants This" took viewers by storm when it first premiered in 2024, sending fans for a ride on the emotional rollercoaster that is modern adult romance. The popular romantic comedy show centers around the lives of Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell), an agnostic, sex-positive podcast host, and Noah Roklov (Adam Brody), a rabbi with deep roots in the Jewish faith. Although the two characters have undeniable chemistry, their relationship is plagued with challenges as they attempt to balance their differing careers, cultural backgrounds, belief systems, and social circles. 

While Joanne and Noah's relationship is undeniably messy and complicated, the actors behind the two central characters are both happily married in real life (to other people, that is). Brody's wife, fellow actor Leighton Meester, even made an appearance in Season 2 of "Nobody Wants This," playing the role of Abby, Joanne's former middle school frenemy. Interestingly, Meester's character is married to Gabe, played by Joe Gillette (who happens to be the real-life partner of fellow cast member Jackie Tohn). Similar to the real-life loves of the leading ladies on Netflix's "Ransom Canyon," the cast of "Nobody Wants This" seems to have things much more figured out in the love department than their on-screen characters do. Kristen Bell may star in idealized rom-coms on screen, but in real life, she's honest about the not-so-glamorous parts of marriage. The "Veronica Mars" alum has been married to fellow actor and comedian Dax Shepard since 2013, but their relationship hasn't been without its fair share of ups and downs. Since first connecting in 2007, Bell and Shepard have been candid about their challenges, with Shepard once admitting in a 2017 interview with Us Weekly, "We are opposites, and it has taken a tremendous amount of work and therapy for us to coexist." The couple has also faced hardship relating to Shepard's sobriety journey, with Bell standing by his side when he relapsed on painkillers after being sober for 16 years. In September 2025, she shared a sweet Instagram post dedicated to her husband as he marked 21 cumulative years of sobriety. "Thank you for getting sober," she wrote, "I am eternally grateful to have you."

But along with the challenges Bell and Shepard have faced in their marriage, they have also experienced plenty of moments of marital bliss, including their wedding day, when they tied the knot in a low-key, casual ceremony at a California courthouse on October 17, 2013. As one of the celebrities who skipped the traditional white wedding dress, Bell instead opted for an all-black outfit, saying her vows in a simple short-sleeved top, black pants, and a chunky silver necklace. "We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse, and it was still one of the best days of my life," Bell gushed in a 2016 interview on "CBS Mornings." In addition to their long-lasting partnership, Bell and Shepard also share two children together: daughters Lincoln and Delta.

2024 proved to be a big year for Justine Lupe, both professionally and in her personal life. Not only did filming begin for the first season of "Nobody Wants This," but Lupe — who plays the character Morgan — was actually five months pregnant in real life at the time, expecting her first child with partner Tyson Mason. She was able to keep her pregnancy hidden from most of the cast and crew, later revealing via social media that her colleagues had "no idea" she was pregnant during filming. "This show carried me through my first 5+ months of pregnancy with so much warmth," she captioned an Instagram post in September 2024, celebrating the premiere of the popular rom-com series. 

Lupe and Mason's daughter, Ellis, arrived in August 2024, just a month before "Nobody Wants This" officially debuted on Netflix. Seven months later, the new parents took their romantic relationship to the next level, saying their vows in a courthouse ceremony in Beverly Hills, California. Unlike her character, Morgan — who winds up calling off her engagement by the end of Season 2 — Lupe actually went through with the nuptials, and officially married Mason on February 18, 2025. She posted photos from the intimate ceremony to Instagram about a month later, writing, "Allow me to introduce you to my ding darn HUSBAND!" in her caption.

Jackie Tohn stars as Esther, wife to Sasha Roklov (Timothy Simons) in "Nobody Wants This," but she's actually unmarried in real life. However, Tohn has been in a committed relationship with actor, writer, and director Joe Gillette since 2021, and if his social media posts are anything to go by, these two love birds are completely smitten. Gillette frequently uses Instagram to show Tohn off, and he's definitely not shy about expressing his feelings for her on a public platform. In August 2022, Gillette celebrated Tohn's birthday with a wholesome carousel of Instagram photos featuring the "Glow" alum, where he wrote in the caption, "You are a special angel from heaven, and everyone knows it, and everyone is talking about it. Personally? I think you're pretty much the funniest and best and a stone cold fox."

In October 2025, Gillette accompanied Tohn to the premiere of "Nobody Wants This" Season 2, as seen in the picture above, where the happy couple was all smiles on the red carpet. Gillette actually made an appearance in two episodes of the show's second season, playing the role of Gabe, husband to Abby, played by Adam Brody's real-life wife Leighton Meester. "It got so incestuous," co-star Kristen Bell previously joked to Entertainment Weekly. "I had a blast on set saying, 'Jackie's boyfriend is playing Adam's wife's husband and Adam's wife is playing Jackie's boyfriend's wife.' It was like breaking the sim."

Stephanie Faracy stars in "Nobody Wants This" as Joanne and Morgan's eccentric mother, Lynn. On screen, Faracy brings Lynn to life with her lively and sometimes chaotic energy, especially as she navigates her divorce from Henry (Michael Hitchcock), who turns out to be gay. But the actor behind Lynn's energetic persona is much more private in real life, and shares hardly any public information about her romantic history. Faracy has never been married and doesn't have any children, but she keeps any further information about her dating life on the down low.

Just like Faracy is among the celebrities who have embraced being single, she believes her "Nobody Wants This" character is also perfectly happy to still be figuring things out in life. "Maybe in time she's going to find her way, but until then she's happy to believe by just being happy and silly in a certain way," Faracy told People in March 2026. At the time, she also teased what the show has in store for its third season, slated to premiere in late 2026. "I think a lot of great things the fans have been wanting, and different things they hope are happening," Faracy added. "I think there's a lot more relationships, and I think it'll be ... it's a dynamic year coming. I think the fans are going to be excited."

Tovah Feldshuh, who plays the role of Noah and Sasha's mom, Bina Roklov, in "Nobody Wants This," has a similar romantic background to her onscreen character, as both she and Bina have been married to the same person for decades. Feldshuh married her husband, attorney Andrew Harris Levy, in 1977, and the longtime spouses share two children together, daughter Amanda Levy and son Garson Brandan Levy. They have also welcomed several grandchildren, who occasionally make appearances on Feldshuh's Instagram page.

Feldshuh's family life appears to be much more functional than Bina Roklov's on "Nobody Wants This." In the show, Feldshuh portrays an extremely intense and meddling traditional Jewish mother who will stop at nothing to protect her kids. As such, Bina is initially disapproving of Noah's relationship with a non-Jewish woman, and her dynamic with Joanne is one of the plot lines that drives the show. However, what Feldshuh and Bina do have in common — aside from their successful marriages — is that they are both committed and passionate members of the Jewish community. Feldshuh has played several notable Jewish women throughout her career, and is outspoken and proud about her Jewish heritage. She even goes by her Hebrew name, "Tovah," rather than her birth name, which is Terri Sue Feldshuh.
