'60s Model Pat Cleveland's Daughter Anna Has Her Mom's Model Looks
One glance at Anna Cleveland and it's easy to know where she got her stunning looks from. Her high cheekbones, long facial structure, elegant nose, and dainty lips bear a striking resemblance to those of her mother, legendary '60s model Pat Cleveland, who still looks stunning in side-by-side pictures decades later. At 5 feet, 11 inches tall, Anna stands only an inch above her mom, but has the same attention-demanding presence that had eyes glued to Pat in her heyday.
This uncanny resemblance has definitely opened doors for Anna, but has also posed its own set of problems, particularly relating to the dark side of modeling. "My mother is inspiring, but her legacy carried a lot of weight," she told Vogue in 2015. "Being her daughter, I thought, is [modeling] her thing, or is this my thing? In many ways, it's been harder for me in this business because I have to distinguish myself."
Still, Anna has the advantage of getting into modeling at a young age — even younger than her mother, who first walked for Vogue at age 15. At the age of 2, Anna posed with the Duchess of Windsor's diamonds, walked for Moschino at 5, and walked with her mom on Karl Lagerfeld's runway at age 13. Interestingly, Anna's father, Paul van Ravenstein, is also a former model and current photographer. Ravenstein and Pat got married in 1984 and had Anna in 1989. With over 30 years of industry experience herself, Anna is now a model industry veteran in her own right, even if fans draw comparisons between her and her mother.
Anna Cleveland's walk is influenced by Pat Cleveland's
It's not just the looks Anna Cleveland has inherited from her famous mother; she's also got the walk. Pat Cleveland carved a special runway niche for herself with a unique walk that included twirls, dancing, and dramatic displays. While other models walked with no expression or variation to their movements, Pat's walk was theatrical, and no one did it like her. Similarly, Anna is very expressive on the runway. She moves and twirls with quite a bit of the dramatic flair Pat Cleveland coined.
The younger Cleveland doesn't hide how heavily her mother inspires her. Unlike other children of supermodels, such as Kaia Gerber, who is Cindy Crawford's daughter and often channels her mother's style, Anna makes the connection to Pat Cleveland especially obvious by using her mother's maiden name professionally.
Despite that, she's still her own person. In an interview with British Vogue in 2024, she shared that her mom's words on embracing her individuality have stayed with her over the years: "Become a swan," "shine from the inside," and "express yourself." Anna has clearly taken these words to heart, and when people point out just how much like her mother she is, she's got the best response. "... well, I came out of her," she said to The Wall Street Journal, "there's nothing I can do about it."
