What The Remaining Leading Ladies Of Happy Days Look Like Today
It's been more than 40 years since "Happy Days" finished airing, and it's safe to say that much of the cast has completely changed since then. The popular sitcom ran from the mid-70s to the mid-80s, and it featured a stellar cast made up of Henry Winkler, Ron Howard, Marion Ross, Anson Williams, Tom Bosley, Don Most, Scott Baio, and more of the decade's most talented television stars. While most of the show's narratives were driven by the main male characters, like the ever-wholesome Richie Cunningham (Howard) and the effortlessly cool Fonzie (Winkler), it was the female stars that made "Happy Days" feel complete. At the heart of the show was Ross, who played one of the most beloved sitcom mothers ever, plus more colorful female characters played by Cathy Silvers, Lynda Goodfriend, Linda Purl, and the late Erin Moran.
In the decades since "Happy Days" wrapped, many of the show's surviving cast members have continued to carry on the show's legacy, though some of the actors have changed quite a bit since their days on set. Just like the photos showing what the leading ladies of "Family Ties" look like these days, seeing how the stars of "Happy Days" have evolved over the past few decades can be mind-boggling. Some of the female stars look unrecognizable from their days on the sitcom, while others look like they haven't aged a day.
Just like Mrs. C, Marion Ross still opts for vibrant hair colors
Marion Ross is known and loved for her iconic "Happy Days" role as Marion Cunningham, mother to Richie (Ron Howard) and Joanie (Erin Moran). Affectionately referred to as "Mrs. C," she was the loving matriarch of the Cunningham family, bringing a particular dynamism to the role of a traditional 1950s housewife. Throughout the show's eleven seasons, Ross' character played around with various shades of her trademark red hair, like the coppery-red shade seen in the photo on the left. From hues of strawberry blond to deeper shades of auburn, these before and after pics show Marion Cunningham's gorgeous evolution since her '70s breakthrough.
Even long after "Happy Days" came to an end, Ross continued with Mrs. C's tradition of keeping her hair bright and vibrant. Unlike celebs who proudly show off their gray hair, Ross has maintained warm-toned and richly colored locks, sometimes leaning into shades of deep browns, like the chestnut hue seen in the photo on the right. Taken in November 2025, the candid picture of Ross was snapped just about a month after her 97th birthday. It was uploaded to Instagram by her son, actor and comedian Jim Meskimen, as they celebrated Thanksgiving together. "Thankful," he captioned the post, while adding to his followers, "Sending you Happy Days from Mrs. C!"
Lynda Goodfriend is hardly recognizable from her time on Happy Days
Since starring as Lori Beth Allen on "Happy Days," Lynda Goodfriend's career has pivoted into an entirely new direction — and so has her appearance. Following the end of the sitcom in 1984, Goodfriend continued acting for about a decade before she transitioned into more behind-the-scenes roles, eventually using her talent and experience to become an acting teacher. She's now a part of the faculty at the New York Film Academy. "Happy Days" fans might not even recognize Goodfriend these days. Not only hasn't she appeared on screen since the '90s, but she's also adopted a whole new look later in her adult life.
Goodfriend's dramatic transformation is hard to miss in these side-by-side photos of the former actor, seen on the left with the dark brunette hair color and rounded bob cut that "Happy Days" fans remember her for. More than 40 years later, however, Goodfriend's look has completely changed. Though she managed to keep her dark locks for many years, Goodfriend appears as a full-blown blond in the photo on the right, which was taken from a series of YouTube videos posted by the platform Film Courage in 2025. Goodfriend, who is in her 70s, looks like a different person entirely in the recent snaps, though she still has the sweet smile and sparkly eyes that viewers (and Richie Cunningham) fell in love with decades ago on "Happy Days."
Linda Purl has aged so gracefully since appearing on Happy Days
Out of all the "Happy Days" alums, Linda Purl might be the one who looks most like her younger self. She first appeared on the hit sitcom in Season 2, playing the role of Richie's girlfriend Gloria, before she eventually returned as an entirely different character for Season 10. A blond beauty with one of the most iconic '80s hairstyles, Purl hypnotized the "Happy Days" audience when she returned as Ashley Pfister, who became Fonzie's serious girlfriend. As seen in the photo on the left, Purl's styling and costuming as Ashley were defined by big, voluminous curls, fluffy mall bangs, and a classic, colorful wardrobe. She also had a stunning face card, featuring bright blue eyes and immaculate glass skin.
Not much has changed for Purl in the photo on the right, taken more than 40 years later in August 2025. As seen in the pic, Purl has maintained her blond locks and wispy bangs, though she has slightly steered away from her hair's golden hue from the '80s. She now sports a brighter shade of blond with cool, icy tones. She also has a much shorter cut than the shoulder-length hair she had during her "Happy Days" era. Purl — who turned 71 in September 2026 — can still rock a colorful outfit, like the retro patterned dress she's seen wearing in the more recent photo. With her eyes looking bluer than ever, her face card definitely still serves.
Over 40 years after playing Jenny Piccalo, Cathy Silvers is still radiant as ever
More than four decades may have passed since Cathy Silvers played the role of Jenny Piccalo, but "Happy Days" fans would recognize that dazzling smile anywhere. Portraying the fun and flirty best friend of Joanie Cunningham in the show's last few seasons, Silvers was widely beloved by the audience thanks in part to her beaming smile and twinkling eyes. The photo on the left shows Silvers as Jenny on "Happy Days," flashing the brilliant smile that lit up every scene she was in. At the time, Silvers' hair was colored Jenny's usual shade of warm, honey-brown hair with golden highlights, and almost always featured a small bow on one side.
In the years after "Happy Days," Silvers ditched the hair bows and started playing around with a number of different hair colors. In 2014, she stepped out for a red carpet event with a black layered bob featuring some subtle touches of gray to give her a chic salt-and-pepper look. But Silvers has since pivoted to much lighter tones. She has been rocking blond hair for the past several years, as displayed through various selfies posted on her Instagram page. The photo on the right shows Silvers posing for a glowing selfie in 2019, sporting rich golden locks and thick-cut bangs. Revealing in her Instagram post that she wasn't wearing any makeup in the pic, Silvers flaunted her flawless skin while looking radiant as ever. "Selfless selfie ... no makeup," she captioned the post, which was signed, "xoxo, JP," in an apparent reference to her "Happy Days" character.
