What The Leading Ladies Of Saved By The Bell Look Like These Days
If you grew up in the '90s, "Saved by the Bell" was probably on your Saturday morning television roster. The half-hour sitcom had everything you needed to get your weekend going — funny hijinks, high school romances, and even some serious topics like Jessie Spano (played by Elizabeth Berkley) overusing caffeine pills. She wasn't the only female lead who stole the show, however. Tiffani Thiessen's character, Kelly Kapowski, was the upbeat cheerleader we're sure many viewers had crushes on. And fans can't forget fashionista Lisa Turtle, depicted by Lark Voorhies, who was always shooing off Samuel "Screech" Powers and his many adorable advances.
The female "Saved by the Bell" leads were just teens when they starred as students at Bayside High, and now, over 30 years since the original show, the actors have long since ditched the colorful early '90s 'fits, and have had quite the fashion evolution. Other features, like their remarkably youthful faces and enviable hair, still make them recognizable as their former selves. If you're wondering what your fave "Saved by the Bell" students look like today, you'll be amazed at how gorgeous they are.
Tiffani Thiessen upgraded her '90s cool-girl style
Tiffani Thiessen embodied the perfect girl in "Saved by the Bell." Kelly Kapowski was not only gorgeous with a most perfect head of hair, but she was also sweet, kind, and wore outfits straight out of the trendiest stores in the mall. Off-camera, pics of Thiessen proved she was the ultimate '90s cool girl, and she clearly loves that aesthetic to this day. In an Instagram carousel shared in September 2026, the "Beverly Hills, 90210" star harkened back to the era with an oversized white blazer and baggy trousers. It was quite a departure from Kelly's more girlish looks on the show, but a power suit never looked better on the 52-year-old.
Thiessen may have changed her fashion tastes since her "Saved by the Bell" days, but she somehow hasn't aged a bit. Still, she acknowledged her wrinkles and told Page Six in 2023, "I like my laugh lines. And I call them laugh lines and happy lines because that's what they are, you know? And I also cried a lot, too. So they probably were created for that, too. But that's life." The mom of two added, "And I earned them." As for whether she'll get injections or go under the knife, Thiessen wants to age gracefully for her kids. "I have a teenage daughter. I don't want her to see that I'm scared [about] turning 50 and that I need to change my face or anything," she stated.
Elizabeth Berkley traded in her naturally curly hair for soft waves
Elizabeth Berkley's character, Jessie Spano, was known for her outspoken feminist views, towering height, and a thick, curly head of hair that she often styled wild and loose or up in a scrunchie. These days, she's a celeb who rarely lets her curly natural hair out to play and instead prefers a sleeker 'do with subtle waves. Berkley's shade is a few steps lighter than her previous bronde color, and it's thanks to her stylist Tracy Cunningham. In 2024, the celebrity colorist shared an Instagram reel of her and Berkley on set and wrote, "Just had the best time coloring Elizabeth Berkley's gorgeous hair — she is absolutely glowing and such a joy to be around!"
During Berkley's time playing Jessie, she was a lot more relaxed and down-to-earth with her beauty and fashion, but the "Showgirls" star loves to get glam in real life. "I still wear glitter on my eyelids daily, so you can take the girl out of Vegas, but you can't take the showgirl out of the girl," she shared in a Walmart Live (via Rolling Stone). Berkley added, "We all need the joy, and glitter brings joy ... Honestly, even for drop-off, pick-up, I'm wearing a little glitter." We love a mom who brings sparkle to her everyday life.
Lark Voorhies went from brunette to platinum blond and back
Every school has its own Miss Congeniality, and at Bayside High that would be Lisa Turtle. Played by Lark Voorhies, she was popular, bubbly, and wore the most outrageous outfits in all the best ways. With her father's unlimited credit card, Lisa never repeated an OOTD and knew how to put together a '90s look without clashing. During the earlier seasons, Voorhies wore her curly hair in various styles, sometimes in scrunchies and other times with floral headbands. There was never a look that didn't complement the actor's natural beauty, especially as she wore it with such confidence.
After "Saved by the Bell," Voorhies kept up her acting career, but fell out of the spotlight to focus on her mental health. During a 2020 interview with Dr. Oz, she opened up about her mental wellness while looking stunning with her bleached blond hair. Paired with shimmery eyeshadow and red lipstick, Voorhies looked like the trendsetter she played years ago. It seemed she realized that maintaining platinum-blond hair is probably more expensive than you think, and in 2025, the "In the House" star showed off an Instagram pic of herself with gorgeous chestnut brown curls. With barely-there foundation, brick-red lipstick, and a printed top, Voorhies looked like a slightly older version of the fashionable Lisa Turtle. "Hey Instafam, what kind of film and TV shows would you love to see me star in next?" she asked fans. Our vote is for "Saved by the Bell: The Older Years."
