Jane Austen never gets old, so it's no surprise that there have been so many movie adaptations of her books over the years, and now, "Sense and Sensibility" is taking the world by storm. The 2026 film features Daisy Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood, Esmé Creed-Miles as Marianne Dashwood, and Bodhi Rae Breathnach as Margaret Dashwood, with Caitríona Balfe playing their mother. The main female leads have been busy jet-setting during the press tour, and while there have been plenty of celebrities who nailed method dressing, some of the stars have missed the mark.

With "Sense and Sensibility" taking place in the late 18th century, the actors definitely went for whimsical, romantic looks while promoting the period movie. Unfortunately, not all of them landed, as there was something off about the silhouette or an extra unnecessary detail. And while a couple of attendees weren't in the film, they landed on our worst-dressed list for their red-carpet fashion. Movie premieres are when celebs need to bring their sartorial A-game, but sadly, these 'fits were just flops.

Esmé Creed-Miles came to the Sense and Sensibility premiere looking like a vintage lampshade

We anticipated seeing lots of dreamy colors and textures during the "Sense and Sensibility" press tour, but what we didn't expect was one of the leads showing up in a shapeless shift. Esmé Creed-Miles walked the red carpet during the Los Angeles premiere of the film on October 7, wearing a bubblegum pink strapless dress that flared out to her ankles, ending with a large ruffled hem. It was giving vintage lampshade with legs for a stand, à la "A Christmas Story." If only there were an off switch for this look.

Daisy Edgar-Jones' bellhop outfit was all over the place

The stunning style transformation of Daisy Edgar-Jones is something to be studied, and she's been seen in so many edgy 'fits. However, we're not sure what she was going for at a Q&A event for "Sense and Sensibility" on September 23. It looked like she was channeling a hotel bellhop on top, with her white button-down shirt featuring gold buttons fastened all the way up her neck. Then, her bottom half was a confusing mess of a ruffled skirt with a high-low hem. A pair of wide-legged trousers would have looked much more cohesive than that bulky skirt.

Caitríona Balfe brought the wrong accessories

Caitríona Balfe has been in a few period movies and television shows, so it's refreshing to see her looking modern on the red carpet. The ladies of "Outlander" are so stunning in real life, which Balfe proved at the Ireland premiere of "Sense and Sensibility." Sadly, her glowing face didn't detract from the boxy black dress with large white cuffs and a peekaboo floral hem. While a bit basic for a premiere, what ruined the look was Balfe's oversized white scarf that resembled the hat Sally Field wore in "The Flying Nun." This 'fit needed to go up, up, and away.

Fiona Shaw's suit could have used some tailoring

While Fiona Shaw played the matronly Mrs. Jennings in "Sense and Sensibility," she certainly didn't have to dress like one at the London premiere on September 15. The "Harry Potter" star posed in a crinkled blue suit and matching wide-leg pants that fell way over her shoes. The material of the two-piece lacked enough structure to provide Shaw with a flattering silhouette, even with the belt knotted at her waist. What's more, the pants needed an inch or two off the hem, as the long length looked sloppy. This ensemble definitely did not make sense for a red carpet event.

Bethany Slater's draped neckline dragged her down

Sometimes, a simple classic cut is all a dress needs, especially if it's in a fiery red color, such as Bethany Slater's. Her "Sense and Sensibility" Los Angeles premiere look could have been a hit, if only the neckline of the dress didn't have all that extra material. It wasn't quite a cowl neck or an exaggerated draping to look avant-garde. Rather, it was just ill-fitting and unnecessary. Coupled with the silver Y2K handbag, Slater looked ready for the prom instead of a huge movie premiere.

Stormi Henley woke up and decided to do the very least

Perhaps Stormi Henley thought it was the early 2000s and casual was in for movie premieres. We get that she doesn't have a role in "Sense and Sensibility," but that doesn't mean minimal effort is okay when invited to a red carpet. While her basic black dress and jacket might have been fine for a night out, it sure wasn't up to par for hobnobbing with A-list stars at a Hollywood event. Not even Henley's orange pumps saved the 'fit. In fact, they just made her look ready for Halloween.

Scout Willis looked ready for night-night

We love a sheer look when it's high-fashion, but Scout Willis didn't deliver with her loose, all-white 'fit. From the ruffled, gauzy shirt with a cinched waist and buttons to the floor-sweeping pleated skirt, the middle daughter of Demi Moore appeared to be dressed for bed. Perhaps she was channeling Jane Austen in her sleepwear, as the dress/nightgown had a completely vintage feel. Adding to her bedtime garb, Willis wore beige footwear that made it appear as if she was barefoot. Sadly, even her expression looked like she was ready to doze off into dreamland.
