Joan Collins Nailed One Of The Hottest Color Trends With Her Mother-Of-The-Groom Outfit
Joan Collins is proof that style just gets better with age. The "Dynasty" star celebrated her son Alexander Newley's nuptials in September 2025 wearing the most gorgeous tea-length baby blue dress and matching large-brimmed hat. The frock featured a brocade fabric perfect for the fall, and a large cape dramatic enough for Alexis Morell Carrington Colby to storm out in. In an Instagram reel shared by Newley's wife Sheela Newley (née Raman), Collins is seen accessorized with sensible shoes, because we all know the foot conditions that high heels can cause.
Not only was Collins a vision in her mother-of-the-groom 'fit, but she also was totally en vogue with the color. Color trends we saw everywhere in 2025 were different shades of blue, including the light icy hue Collins wore for her son's wedding. The mom of three has always been a showstopper when it comes to fashion, and Collins' Cannes look at 92 settles the argument that stealing the show isn't just for the young. However, if you want to copy her 'fits, you may just be out of luck, as it's a well-known fact that the Dame is behind many of her own creations.
Joan Collins is her own fashion designer
Joan Collins had the most enviable 'fits during her time on "Dynasty," and her fashion sense hasn't gone anywhere. If you're wondering how everything looks tailored just for her, it's because much of it is. "Everybody who knows me knows that I design most of my clothes," she told Hello! Collins continued, "Some of the dresses that I wore in the first pictures of me in Hollywood were things that I designed myself and had made by this company of two young men called Darnells. They made loads of things for me because I didn't like the stuff in the stores — I thought it was drab."
In fact, Collins created the outfit she wore when she received her damehood in March 2015, per Yahoo! Life. She looked picture-perfect in a white dress with a ruffled hem and black banding around her waist. Perched over her shoulders was a matching collared capelet, which she accessorized with long black gloves and a netted white fascinator. The black-and-white look was anything but drab, and looked fit for rubbing elbows with royalty. We need Collins to start her own fashion line ASAP.
