Your ’90s Schoolgirl Snap Clips Are In Again
From scrunchies to claw clips to headbands, it seems like all our favorite childhood hair accessories are in again. Add to that list: snap clips. After Solange styled her hair with a stack of chrome clips for the CFDA Awards a few years back, other stylish stars slowly started to follow suit. Nowadays, you can’t seem to scroll through Instagram without seeing a snap clip or two, confirming the nostalgic hair accessory is new again.
“The snap clip is comfortable since it conforms to the shape of your head and is also functional because it secures hair in place,” says Ellen Slicklen, Vice President of Scünci’s Marketing HBA Division, of the comeback. But don’t let the functionality fool you: The beauty of snap clips is that you can wear them a number of ways. “When styled properly, they can look quite chic and completely transform your vibe,” Slicklen adds.
Try a swooped side part with a larger snap clip on the same side, suggests Scünci style expert Laura Polko. Or, stack a few smaller ones along your hairline. Another way to style your hair using snap clips is by parting it down the middle, using a couple of smaller clips to hold strands back on either side, she says. This look is effortlessly cool, as demonstrated by our favorite style influencers, and works with all hair lengths and textures.
Still worried about looking childish? Don’t. Everyone from Alexa Chung to Bella Hadid to Kim Kardashian has proven this is an adult-appropriate hair accessory. The best part? You can get a pack for less than $5 at your local drugstore — or even better, shop them below.
