At this point, nothing that comes out of Kanye West's mouth surprises us anymore. However, the artist slash fashion designer slash future husband of Kim Kardashian just topped himself in a radio interview with Power 106 FM. While chatting with the DJ about everything from Louis Vuitton to the fighter jets he plans to have at his wedding, West dropped a bombshell.
One sentence of twelve words just took the prize for the most "Kanye" and most absurd. "I'm the most influential person in fashion in the past ten years," he said. Sure you are.
On his relationship with Louis Vuitton: “If I had the opportunity to design for Louis Vuitton now, I wouldn’t. Because the prices [are] just too extreme. And I don’t want to use my message to have kids saving up that much, you know, to be part of what the ideas are. You know, that’s the problem to me with luxury.”
On his future plans: "Ten years from now, I just want to create for the church, period. I’ll design the new Sistine Chapel.”
On his proposal at San Francisco’s AT&T Park: “I gotta apologize to the race of males for turning up so much.”
On the 15-carat diamond engagement ring he gave to Kim: “She knew I was eventually going to ask her to marry me, but I just had to get that ring right. I worked with four different jewelers. Three rings were made. Only one actually hit the finger with Lorraine [Schwartz]. She came through. That ring was less than four hours old by the time I gave it to her.”
On his wedding: “Hopefully next summer. For me, it ain’t no surprises. All I know is fighter jets, man.”
