It's the season of celebrity engagements, and Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are the latest couple ringing wedding bells.
The former Yankee announced the happy news with an Instagram post of their hands, writing: "she said yes."
The ring, however, is far from understated; Us Weekly reports that the large, emerald-cut diamond is approximately 15 carats and worth $1.4 million. Brandon Hill of Steve Quick Jeweler told the publication that "the diamond looks to be around 15 carats and is colorless with the highest clarity." Nice choice, A-Rod!
Lopez later shared the same photo on her own Instagram, with several heart emojis doing all the talking in her caption.
The pair has been dating since February of 2017, but met for the first time back in 2005 when Lopez and her then-husband Marc Anthony attended the "Subway Series," in which the Yankees played the Mets. Lopez told Vanity Fair in 2017 that the pair hadn't stayed in touch since then, but ran into each other at a restaurant in Beverly Hills that winter and sparks flew.
"I almost yelled out ‘Alex,’ but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that,” she told the magazine. “I could literally just have walked away,” she said. “But I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say ‘Hey.’"
Later that day, Rodriguez asked Lopez out to dinner, and the rest is history.
By the spring of 2017, both Lopez and Rodriguez had confirmed publicly that they were together, and it seemed like they were both happier than ever. "She's an amazing, amazing girl, one of the smartest human beings I've ever met, and also an incredible mother," Rodriguez said during his appearance on The View in March of 2017.
Their families quickly merged, Lopez posting pictures of herself and Rodriguez with his two daughters and her twins looking like one big, happy unit. They've also attended several red carpets together, looking both stunning and hopelessly in love each time.
There's been no word yet on a wedding date or location, but surely, it will be the event of the year.
