And when it comes to worlds readers can't get enough of, the "Knockemout" series by Lucy Score has readers head-over-heels in the romance genre. The three-book series features "Things We Never Got Over," "Things We Hide From the Light," and "Things We Left Behind." The first installment of the series, "Things We Never Got Over," has over 600,000 ratings on Goodreads with a 4.18-star rating. You'll also see Lucy Score's novel on Amazon's bestsellers in romance, alongside beloved authors like Sarah J. Maas. Here's more on the romance series that has everyone swooning.

The 'Knockemout' series is a spicy, funny romance with some mystery

The "Knockemout" books can be read as stand-alone novels, but the series takes off with "Things We Never Got Over" which follows runaway bride Naomi Witt to the town of Knockemout, Virginia where she arrives to clean up the mess created by her twin sister, Tina. Naomi encounters the beautiful and broody loner Knox in a local shop who mistakes her for her twin and well, you can likely predict the sparks that begin to fly.

The subsequent novels tell love tales between other characters, all set in the rough-around-the-edges town of Knockemout — but don't worry, your favorite characters from the previous novels will continue to pop up in the ones that follow. "Things We Never Got Over" is characterized as a sultry, fast-paced read featuring the grumpy-sunshine romance trope. Other fan-favorite tropes — like the slow-burn romance and enemies-to-lovers storyline — unfold in the other two novels of the series.

The second book of the series, "Things We Hide From the Light," centers on Knox's brother Nash, the chief of police, and his new neighbor, wild and free Lina. The passionate romance that ensues is interwoven with a mystery in the small Virginian town. Lastly, "Things We Left Behind" zeros in on a friend of Knox and Nash, Lucian, and local librarian Sloan, who have a long and steamy history — which wasn't always pretty. All in all, the romantic series has garnered much praise for its readability, spicy rating, and lovable leads.
