Outdated Outfits Carrie Underwood Has Been Caught Wearing
It's been nearly two decades since Carrie Underwood won Season 4 of "American Idol," and her fashions have certainly evolved over the years. Back then, she was an aspiring country singer from Muskogee, Oklahoma, and her down-to-earth style was reflected in her clothing. However, she's definitely gotten a lot more glam since then. Now, with access to the best designer clothing, the "Before He Cheats" singer is bedazzled, tasseled, and blinged out to the max every time she walks a carpet.
Interestingly, this doesn't seem like it was always her plan. Back in 2010, Underwood told InStyle (via Sounds Like Nashville), "I love things that make me feel comfortable but aren't too tight or showing too much cleavage. That might be some people, but that's definitely not me. I can be sexy and still be classy. I don't do outrageous outfits, and I never will." Based on what we see from her now, it looks like Underwood's tune has changed. Fans have seen her in some out-there fashion in recent years, with some of her 'fits even looking — and we hate to admit it — pretty outdated. Of course, wanting to experiment with different clothing styles is natural, but some of her looks unfortunately don't belong in the "timeless" category.
When Carrie Underwood went overboard with rhinestones
Carrie Underwood certainly didn't shy away from color during her performance at the "Good Morning America" Summer Concert Series on August 2. The "Somethin' Bad" singer's heavily jeweled cropped jacket had a dizzying array of colors that looked more garage sale than couture. What's more, Underwood paired it with tiny denim hot pants, which are one of the worst style trends we've seen in 2024. Perhaps she was trying to make Daisy Dukes a thing again, but sadly, her 'fit wasn't somethin' good.
Carrie Underwood's leopard uniform wasn't a crowd-pleaser
Was Carrie Underwood performing at a party or having a backyard playdate? It looked like the latter when she wore a cropped leopard-print jacket with matching frayed shorts while performing in Atlanta, Georgia, last October. Frayed denim was big last year, but its moment is over, leaving this look outdated. Furthermore, with her rolled-up sleeves and not an ounce of bling in sight outside of some dangly earrings, this was one outfit that simply didn't wow us.
Carrie Underwood's neon unitard straight out of the '80s
Carrie Underwood looked like a blast from the past when she performed at the 2022 American Music Awards in a white, skintight unitard with black and neon-colored detailing. While her performance was top-notch, the "Crazy Angels" singer was dressed like she was about to lead a jazzercise class (aka, in a way that has only ever been attractive in the '80s). Perhaps she was channeling this theme, as her hair was styled in voluminous curls straight from the '80s, too. Still, intentional or not, the ensemble was too outdated for us.
Carrie Underwood's embroidered '70s suit
The year 2022 seemed to be Carrie Underwood's era of playing around with different fashion eras. The star showed up to the People's Choice Awards that year in a black suit with floral embroidery. While Underwood usually shows off her super-toned legs, they were covered up in '70s-era bell-bottom pants this time. We can almost hear "Disco Inferno" playing faintly in the background.
The time Carrie Underwood dressed like a 6-year-old
We can't expect stars to be glammed out all the time, but Carrie Underwood gave serious toddler vibes when she wore denim overall shorts over a white hoodie. The 'fit looked like she borrowed clothes from one of her sons' closets, making it clear that her off-duty looks can, at least at times, be far different than her red-carpet attire.
Carrie Underwood's showgirl 'fit
More is more when it comes to Carrie Underwood's fashion, it seems. Case in point: It looked like the country star couldn't decide between a dress or pants for the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards, so she went with both. What could have been an elegant outfit was made gaudy with a silver, leafy pattern that covered her bodice and sheer pants. The look screamed more "Vegas showgirl" than "music awards show."
