If there's one thing we know about Miley Cyrus from watching her grow up in the spotlight, it's that she is absolutely fearless with her beauty and fashion choices. The "Black Mirror" actor's eyebrows were delicately filled in, yet light and natural in color, allowing her eyes to be the focal point. While her eyebrows were thin by today's standards, she and her team never took them too far.

Almost two decades after Cyrus rocked the thin eyebrow trend, the style has made a grand return. "I've definitely noticed the return of the skinny brow, but today's version focuses on sculpting and accentuating your features rather than tweezing them pencil thin," eyebrow artist Hollie Parkes told CNN in 2024. However, before you consider committing to the look, we recommend embracing the skinny brow trend without picking up the tweezers.

Even though Miley Cyrus had publicly said goodbye to her Disney image prior to her 2013 "Bangerz" era, it was her short pixie haircut and campy fashion choices that truly signified the star was turning a new leaf in her life. Loud, unapologetic, and undeniably the center of attention, the pop star was ready to embrace a side of her the world hadn't seen thus far. For her eyebrows, that meant going chunky and bold.

While the musician's brows were still trimmed and plucked, the shape became thicker with her new look. A pronounced arch and a dark eyebrow color became the star's go-to look, setting her style even further apart from the natural eyebrow color she used to rock. Of course, we can't forget that Instagram was on the verge of having eyebrows in a chokehold, and Cyrus was simply ahead of the global trend. Squared off at the beginning and filled in dramatically, eyebrows became a super-important part of daily makeup routines for Cyrus and the rest of us alike.

As Miley Cyrus was shifting away from her "Bangerz" era into a more refined aesthetic, the "Wrecking Ball" singer hopped on the fox eyebrow trend. In short, the trend, which became super popular on TikTok in the early 2020s, consists of shaving off the end of your eyebrows and drawing it higher up instead, creating the illusion of a more lifted, foxy eye. The look, popularized by models Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, quickly became mainstream in the world of makeup, and celebrity makeup artists clearly hopped on it, too.

For Cyrus, this meant that her eyebrow arch was less prominent and made her eyebrows a bit straighter. The look paired perfectly with a winged eyeliner, which accentuated the foxy shape even more, and just like that, Cyrus' eyes went from being round to a more almond shape. The power of makeup never ceases to surprise us!

After her fox eyebrow era, Miley Cyrus, who still enjoyed a relatively straight and arch-less style, entered her messy laminated brow era. Similar to the type of eyebrow she rocked a few years prior, this one seems to have included some trimming of the ends. The main difference, however, was the eyebrow lamination, which allowed Cyrus' hairs to be lifted more vertically, resulting in a bushier appearance. 

While it's unclear if this was achieved through a brow lamination or simply a strong eyebrow gel, the result is the same: brows that seem a bit intentionally and beautifully messy and unkempt, especially in the inner half. "Lamination also gives the face a natural lifted effect," Autumn Estelle from Benefit explained to Harper's Bazaar in 2024. "The service is ideal for nearly all types of brows, from those with fine, thin hair structures to brows that are coarser and thicker."

Miley Cyrus entered a new eyebrow era recently, and many were surprised by her choice. In fact, when she debuted it, Miley Cyrus' 2025 Oscars look had heads turning for the wrong reasons. Bleached brows have been an on-and-off trend among daring makeup enthusiasts for years; however, the look is a hard one to pull off. This is because it pulls life away from the eyes, potentially making them appear smaller or duller than a bigger, darker brow would. 

Of course, fans of the "Party in the U.S.A." singer know that this isn't Cyrus' first exploration of bleached brows, as the star rocked them briefly during her "Bangerz" era in 2013. However, this time around, she's exploring the look with long hair and a more sophisticated fashion style, giving the bleached brows an entirely new life. Love it or hate it, it's clear that "she's just being Miley."
