Bella Hadid's Latest Hair Transformation Brings Her Closer To Her Natural Shade

The "cashmere brond" hair trend that was all the rage in winter 2024 is officially on its way out. Need proof? Bella Hadid's got a new hairstyle, and we have a feeling many will be following in her footsteps in the coming summer months. The model debuted her new locks at the Cannes Film Festival this May, with the stunning weather calling for a hair refresh. When she arrived in France, viewers were shocked that her usual cocoa-brown 'do was now a lighter shade known as "honey blond" (or, in some cases, "crème brûlée blond").

Bella's colorist, Jack Schwartz, detailed their decision for the change in a press release: Bella has become a regular at the annual event, so stepping out with a new look would surely become a conversation piece. "Going from a brunette to a blonde is major. Bella is a natural blonde, so sourcing photos of her as a child was a great reference. Using those images and her skin tone led us to this epic, luxurious honey hue," the press release said (via Who What Wear).

What was mentioned about Bella's natural hair perked our ears up, as she started dying it at 14. With her latest color change, though, she's going back to her roots. For her sister Gigi Hadid's birthday in April 2024, Bella posted a carousel of throwback photos on Instagram to celebrate, showing off her wavy dirty-blond hair in many of the photos.

Bella Hadid is the queen of hair trends

From Bella Hadid's "cowgirl copper" nail color trend to her simple jet-lag makeup, the model certainly knows how to predict a fad, or she just starts one herself. Based on the love for her new honey-blond hair, she's still got it. Plus, she's in good company, as Zendaya proved that last spring how beautiful the honey-bold hair shade is. This isn't the first time she's coined a viral hair moment, either, as she's become a master of bolstering appealing colors and styles that everyone could accomplish (that is, despite Bella Hadid turning out some pretty outdated outfits). Known for her infamous "clean-girl" slicked-back buns, Bella was also the curator of the "mocha chocolate" hair color, used to describe her signature brunette shade. (Whoever's naming these hair colors must have a sweet tooth, and we love it.)

Bella has always been adventurous when it comes to her hair. In the past, she's mentioned wanting to go dark to separate herself from Gigi Hadid's signature blond locks. "I just have a darker personality. And my sister being blonde and me being brunette, it's a good separation," she expressed to Allure in February 2016. However, that wasn't always the case. As mentioned previously, she first began dying her hair when she was 14. The first colors she opted for? "I dyed it black and blue, I wore eyeliner—I was a punk kid," she told Glamour in August 2016. Still, no matter what hair color she rocks, Bella always looks gorgeous.
