Lauren Boebert's Inappropriate Campaign Trail Outfit Will Always Haunt Her
United States Representative Lauren Boebert is known for her inappropriate outfits, and one particular ensemble came while she was running for office in June 2020. She was heading a political campaigning event, but by the looks of it, she scrambled her look together in minutes. On top, she wore a black sleeveless polo with an American flag pin, a denim skirt tattered at the hem, and silver open-toed platforms. The star accessories (aka the ones she was the most trolled over), though, were the pistol sitting on her hip and her reading glasses.
There are a multitude of reasons as to why this look missed the mark, the first of which being a lack of cohesiveness. Her skirt is giving rodeo outing or night-line dancing, while her shirt makes her look like she's about to hit the putting green. Though it was summer and the temperatures were rising, a more upscale, sophisticated look would have been more supportive of her campaign. Even a tennis dress would've been a step up. Though Boebert is known for wearing her glasses, with this outfit, they made her seem unprepared, as if she didn't have enough time to pop some contacts in. And the gun? Just all-around bizarre. Viewers were just as put-off by the look as we were, one user commenting under her carousel of photos from the function, "Why do you have a gun at a barbeque? Wtf," while another joked, "Those glasses clearly don't help you read bc you're not very smart."
Lauren Boebert should avoid Westerncore, but refuses to
As a gun-toting, conservative congresswoman who was born in Florida and represents Colorado, Lauren Boebert is all too familiar with country couture, defined by feminine, Western pieces. The June 2020 event wasn't the only time she failed to pull off the style, however. In August 2021, she was reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in Colorado. Conforming to her idea of patriotism, she opted for a black crewneck with a matching trucker hat, blue skinny jeans, brown cowboy boots, and, you guessed it, her pistol strapped to a holster on her leg. First of all, anyone could tell you that wearing black with brown is a fashion crime on par with pattern mixing. Many agreed with our qualms with this look, as one user quipped under her post, "Woke libs aren't afraid of your ugly boots." Should we give up hope on Boebert ever wearing an event-appropriate ensemble? Probably.
In February 2025, Boebert stepped out in yet another Westerncore outfit, and though she zhuzhed it up with a cowboy hat this time, the look still didn't land. During her conversations with Logan County Commissioners, she donned an ash-gray blazer over a charcoal shirt, black slacks, heeled boots, and a black cowboy hat, per Instagram. Just because Beyoncé is in her country era, doesn't mean we all have to be. Frankly, the wide-brimmed hat seemed misplaced with the rest of the look. Below her neck, it's giving boardroom girl boss, but on her head, all she's serving is cowgirl gone way wrong.
