Ivanka Trump Is Almost Unrecognizable With Her Natural Hair Color

Having grown up in the spotlight long before her father became the president of the United States, Ivanka Trump has established a clear image for herself. Typically opting for high-end designers (just check out our list of Ivanka Trump's most expensive outfits so far), Ivanka effortlessly pulls off a chic aesthetic with barely a hair out of place. For as long as most millennials can remember, the former political advisor has had blond tresses, which leads onlookers to draw similarities between her and her late mother, Ivana Trump. But a glimpse into old photos from Ivanka's childhood and teen years in the '90s indicates that she doesn't actually have naturally golden-blond hair like many believe. Instead, her real color is closer to a very-light brown or dark blond, rather than the warm butter-blond alternative to platinum hair that she's usually seen with.

Aside from the fact that Ivanka has been rocking her signature blond locks for the majority of her life in the spotlight, people generally assume she has naturally blond hair because both of her parents had fair hair. But early photos of Donald Trump show that even though he started life with blond hair, it eventually darkened to an ashy brond tone similar to Ivanka's natural color. It's super common for kids to be born with blond strands that eventually turn dark, as was the case with Ivanka, too. Few photos from Ivana Trump's childhood exist, but photos from the time she was a young woman married to Donald suggest that, unlike her daughter, she may have had naturally golden-blond hair.

Despite maintaining her blond image, Ivanka doesn't appear to hide the fact that she has naturally darker locks, often sharing photos on social media that show her with darker strands as a child. She's also occasionally been seen with her darker roots growing in, and she pulls off the look beautifully.

Ivanka Trump has naturally darker hair than she wears today

Photos from Ivanka Trump's youth show that her hair is a gorgeous bronze shade, somewhere between brown and blond. Though she went through a stint of dyeing it darker when she first started modeling in the late '90s, she's mostly stuck with her buttery blond color ever since. But eagle-eyed fans have noticed that her roots and hairline often appear darker than the rest of her hair — because not even the rich and famous can fend off regrowth every single day.

Photos from sister Tiffany Trump's baby shower that Ivanka shared on Instagram in 2025 clearly show her darker roots and part line, even if the rest of her mane is perfectly blond. Similarly, her darker roots were obvious in a 2022 Hanukah post. Incorporating darker roots into your hair can actually be a strategic move rather than a sign that you've left it too long between salon visits; the lived-in aesthetic even makes Ivanka seem more down-to-earth and gives her hair a more natural look.

While Ivanka has managed to pull off her dyed blond hair for the most part, the likelihood that she's accumulated damage after years of bleaching is high. While it is possible to recover your hair from bleach damage, the prerequisite for this is usually avoiding bleach until your hair is repaired. Ivanka hasn't spoken openly about any hair damage she might have experience as a result of ongoing bleach and dye, but she has previously been spotted rocking hair extensions. Extensions are common and there's no shame in wearing them, but they are sometimes used to build up the density of fine or thin hair, or hair that's broken off due to damage. But damaged or not, since Ivanka has been proudly wearing blond hair for all this time, we don't expect her to switch to her natural darker color anytime soon.
