Sophie Turner's Inappropriate Wedding Guest Dress Will Always Haunt Her
Sophie Turner has become a fashion icon since bursting onto the Hollywood scene during her "Game of Thrones" days, but unfortunately, she doesn't always hit the sartorial mark. One of her biggest misses was the crimson blazer dress she wore to Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie's wedding in 2018. Not only was the color overly glaring, but the frock was super short, which Turner highlighted with black over-the-knee boots. Two years later, the outfit still made her cringe, and she told Elle UK, "I'll forever regret this look. It's one of my worst looks." She revealed, "Both of my really classy dresses that I picked out did not fit me, because they had arrived the day of the wedding, and I hadn't had a chance to try them on, and they didn't fit me." As for her footwear, Turner had a choice between the boots and heels, and chose to go with the former instead to not show too much leg. "It was a disaster. Worst, worst fashion choice," she concluded.
While it's perfectly acceptable to wear red to a wedding in certain shades, the super-bright hue of Turner's blazer dress was just too loud, when all eyes should be on the bride. And while rules for ceremony attire are changing, thigh-high boots are generally considered a no-no. The mom-of-two may not have wanted to show too much skin, but her heels would have been a much better choice. Thankfully, Turner hasn't had many big fashion flubs since, and in fact, her eclectic style has made her one of the best-dressed stars to date.
Sophie Turner's style has come a long way since her wedding guest dress disaster
Every star has had a fashion faux pas here and there, but Sophie Turner's style is seriously serving post-Joe Jonas divorce. It's a pretty big deal that she has Louis Vuitton in her pocket, and she frequently collaborates with the high-end brand to dress her for the red carpet. "In my personal life, I wear very monotone clothes, I avoid bold statements, I don't feel like I have the confidence to wear them. But, LV brings out this other side of me and I don't really have that feeling unless I am wearing Nicolas' creation," she told Harper's Bazaar in November 2024.
It's easy to see why Turner would land on many best-dressed lists now, but she didn't always have access to the best designers when she first started acting. "The first time I walked the red carpet, I remember I had to buy my own clothes. I didn't have a stylist. I wore a Topshop dress and a pair of red Vivienne Westwood shoes, which were the biggest purchase I'd ever made because I'd just gotten paid," she recalled to British Vogue earlier in 2024. If only Turner's 13-year-old self could see her now, minus the one time she wore a blazer dress to her "Game of Thrones" castmates' wedding.
