Kristi Noem Keeps Making The Same Hair Mistake & We're Baffled

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem has a strange history of inappropriate "cosplay" outfits, with many now calling her "ICE Barbie." She's cultivated a unique aesthetic with this endeavor, particularly through outfits like her bulletproof vest, which she wore with 24-inch extensions while making an announcement about deportations. However, when she attempted to change up her look, she only made things worse.

In October 2023, Noem posted to Instagram that she had been taking workout classes with Mōtiv Fitness, and in the carousel of photos, she appeared to be rocking a brand new 'do that did her no favors. It was pulled back into a half-ponytail, half-bun situation, with flyaways and baby hairs begging for a brush-through. Understandably, Noem's hair wouldn't be the neatest after rigorous exercise; however, it did make her botched blond highlights glaringly obvious.

Noem still hasn't learned how to nail down that updo, though, as she posted photos from her daughter's baby shower in December 2024, where she committed the same offense. She wore a wool cardigan with a tank top and jeans, with her hair once again pulled back into an unsecured and unkempt nest-like style.

Kristi Noem's updos keep letting us down

Kristi Noem is unrecognizable without her hair extensions. However, as we've seen, her updos aren't much better. In June 2024, Noem appeared on NewsNation and once again wore her hair in a voluminous updo. Arguably, this time wasn't nearly as bad as her other offenses and appeared to be more intentional as she curled her face-framing pieces; however, it's still unclear whether she was going for a ponytail or a messy bun. Regardless, it's far from the effortlessly tousled "London hair" updo. Neither was it the best option for an on-air feature.

Even back in November 2022, when she was still the governor of South Dakota, Noem was making the same grave mistake. She made a post to Instagram about her afternoon in Brookings, meeting and speaking to voters, but her hairstyle might've made it a little difficult. Noem wore her hair in a high ponytail, once again pulling out her face-framing pieces. However, this time, instead of them being curled away from her face, they're directly in her eyes, definitely making it harder for her to "meet" her supporters. Perhaps Noem should stick to the extensions, after all.
