Things About Lauren Sánchez's Wedding Pictures That Don't Quite Add Up
When Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez descended upon Venice for their June 2025 nuptials, the photographers –- both invited and paparazzi –- swarmed. The paps captured stars like Karlie Kloss and Sydney Sweeney palling around the streets of Venice together, as well as the Kardashian-Jenners, who showed at Lauren Sánchez's wedding that they're bringing animal prints back in a big way. And then there were the wedding photographers, who were there to capture all the intimate details, from Sánchez prepping with a glam squad the size of a village (Lauren Sánchez wasn't going to go makeup-free on her big day, after all), to the happy couple walking back down the aisle after their vows were exchanged. But some of the wedding pictures don't quite add up, at least to Allison McSorley, the founder of Safe Online Futures whose goal is to help people navigate an AI-filled technological landscape.
McSorley wrote an article on her Substack page, pointing out all the questionable things in Sánchez's wedding pics, including how the buttons disappear from her dress from photo to photo. Moreover, one photo shows a safety pin attached to the wedding dress' lace, but it's missing in other photos (and realistically wouldn't have gotten past any stylists or friends who were getting ready with her). According to McSorley, it isn't just the average photo retouching that's concerning; it's that the photos, which were published in Vogue, seem to be AI-generated or AI-enhanced. One of the telltale signs? There appear to be "fused" fingers and other oddities that AI is known for, according to McSorley. Bezos is deep in the AI game at this point, having invested 10s of millions into it, so there is at least some connection between the Amazon founder and the latest technology trend.
What else the photos from the Bezos-Sánchez wedding don't show
Photographers caught some of the drama surrounding Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos' wedding, including protesters that had set up shop around Venice, as well as celebrity guests like Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Usher being, well, ushered in and out water taxis. But there was still more that the photos didn't capture (probably for the best).
For starters, there were the logistics of getting around the water-bound city. With so many VIPs arriving at the same venues over the three-day wedding extravaganza, there were naturally long waits to get from A to B. Add to that intense heat (it hovered near 90 degrees Fahrenheit each day), and you would inevitably have some cranky guests who were tired of waiting for rides, all while attempting to keep their makeup sweat-proof under the summer sun — not to mention trying to look elegant getting in and out of the boats in tight-fitting tuxes and gowns. Sánchez may have envisioned pulling off the wedding of the century, but the photos — and moments left un-captured — may tell a different story.
