Kelly Clarkson's Dramatic New Hair Look Fits Her Face Shape Perfectly

Kelly Clarkson may be returning to "The Voice" for the singing competition's Battle of Champions in 2026, but based on her new hairdo, you'd think she was on "Chopped" (at least in name). In July 2025, the show posted an Instagram video in which it revealed the judges who would be returning for the new season, which features only coaches who have previously won. Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine was the first to turn his chair; then came beloved crooner John Legend; and, finally, Kelly Clarkson spun around and debuted her brand-new look.

Previously, the "Because of You" singer was rocking nearly waist-length, dirty-blond hair with sweeping curtain bangs. While it doesn't seem like she colored it, Clarkson did cut it up to her shoulders and wore it in a side part for the video, making the roots appear brunette and the ends fade into a subtle blond. She accompanied the new 'do with a white button-down, an untied tie, and her signature red lip. If you thought it was giving girl-boss energy, you'd be right.

We don't know why it took Clarkson this long to do the big chop, as it's one of the most flattering hairstyles for round faces. The textured, choppy bob adds more angles to faces with softer features, and this only brings out Clarkson's natural beauty even more. We wouldn't be surprised if it becomes one of the trendiest haircuts of fall 2025 thanks to the "Heartbeat Song" singer.

Kelly Clarkson is accustomed to drastically changing her hair

This new bob certainly isn't the first stop on Kelly Clarkson's stunning hair transformation, and it likely won't be the last. Before her most recent hair switch-up, the "Since U Been Gone" singer rocked several different styles, colors, and even bangs, dating back to her "American Idol" days.

Back in 2002, Clarkson graced the singing competition's stage in one of the most iconic hair looks of the time: skunk-stripe highlights. (While it may be considered a faux pas now, it's not nearly as bad as some of Kelly Clarkson's inappropriate outfits.) As the 2000s progressed, Clarkson experimented with various hairstyles, including going fully platinum blond, rocking side bangs, and experimenting with different lengths, among others. After a few more years of switching back and forth between blond and brunette, she finally landed on a mixture of the two, where she lets her roots grow out and have an ombré effect into the blond. Now, her bob is stealing the show in the best way, but we know that whatever Clarkson leans into next on her hair journey will look just as fabulous.
