The Worst-Dressed Celebs At San Diego Comic-Con 2025
There's nothing quite like a huge convention. Fans from around the world gather to cosplay as their favorite characters, see famous actors speak at panels, and celebrate all things pop culture. Naturally, the excitement was electric at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, which took place from July 24 to July 27. And with so many amazing fan-made outfits, we only wish the celebrities in attendance would've been as successful with their fashion.
Lots of stars tried to take risks with their outfits, but many sadly fell flat. This was especially true for many up-and-comers, who made noticeable missteps with their style. Some even appeared on multiple days, which made for a full weekend of fashion don'ts. It's not quite as bad as being one of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2025 Met Gala, but even the general grand enthusiasm of Comic-Con couldn't save celebs like Holly Hunter and Sophie Skelton from misguided clothing choices. From the "Star Trek" universe to the "Battlestar Galactica" fandom, here are some of the looks that caught our eyes for the wrong reasons.
Holly Hunter was swallowed up by too much material at San Diego Comic-Con
We have nothing but love for Hollywood icon and Oscar winner Holly Hunter, but it's a different story when it comes to her wardrobe. At San Diego Comic-Con's "Star Trek" Universe panel, Hunter wore a cinnamon-brown long-sleeved shirt with matching dress pants. It's hard to wear fabric of this light-brown color because wrinkles become very obvious. Overall, the dress swallowed the petite actor whole. There's also so much material that it couldn't have been comfortable in the summer heat, especially in SoCal. We'll let you decide whether the skinny tie revival was a wise accessory trend to choose or not.
Tricia Helfer wore unnecessarily loud patterns at San Diego Comic-Con
"Battlestar Galactica" star Tricia Helfer first appeared at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday with a beige blouse-and-skirt combo. The outfit matched in color but not in fabric, making the soft, airy blouse feel mismatched against the harsh suede miniskirt. Helfer really missed the mark on Saturday when she paid tribute to her show with a shiny skirt and a V-neck top that was cut very low. Even worse, the metallic silver skirt was decorated with flowers that looked like they were made by a toddler during arts and crafts, not a serious designer.
Natalie Kuckenburg was revealing rather than radiant at SDCC 2025
Newly engaged Natalie Kuckenburg tried too hard to look sexy at San Diego Comic-Con. The future Mrs. Paul Wesley — yes, that one known for "The Vampire Diaries" and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" — wore a black bodycon dress with cutouts throughout. The elongated keyhole front and halter neckline would've been enough to make Kuckenburg shine, but the strips of fabric missing from the waist and legs were too much. Kuckenburg didn't achieve the right balance between an elegant gown and visible undergarments, not to mention the black velvet material didn't catch the light very well, making the whole dress look awkward.
Sophie Skelton struggled to style black tops at San-Diego Comic Con
"Outlander" star Sophie Skelton was fairly reserved with her style at San Diego Comic-Con. She wore her hair back and kept her makeup minimal with no accessories other than small earrings. On both days she attended, Skelton opted for a black top that bared her shoulders. She attempted to dress up her black tank on day one with an odd, copper fringe skirt that looked like a reject from the 1970s. Skelton wore a more formal black shirt the following day, this one slightly sheer with a halter neck. Still, it looked boring when paired with basic dress pants.
Jamaica Vaughan was too reliant on bold fabrics and boots at SDCC
Australian actor Jamaica Vaughan took to San Diego Comic-Con with a noir gown that had a lot of potential. It highlighted the beauty of her red hair and likely would've been a red-carpet win at a different event. But at SDCC, it felt overly formal and perhaps showed too much skin. The next day, Vaughan wore a dark-blue leather top with a deep V-cut and a brown leather skirt. The multiple colors of leather clashed against each other and looked wrinkled (we've been trying to leave this outdated leather look in the past since 2024, but alas). Vaughan wore both outfits with chunky black boots that frankly didn't pair well with either ensemble.
Hermione Corfield's old-English inspiration fizzled out at SDCC
British actor Hermione Corfield seemed to pay tribute to her home with her crop top and matching skirt. The outfit was clearly meant to be a modern take on Victorian style with its gold floral fabric and peek-a-boo poufy white blouse element, but this style would've been a better fit at a Renaissance faire. The skirt's wrapped waist around her midriff made Corfield appear stiff rather than stylish, and her white necklace and earrings were washed out by the contrasting fabrics of her off-the-shoulder top.
