How Gwyneth Paltrow's Face Has Transformed Over The Years, According To Our Plastic Surgeon
Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow may advocate for holistic health over traditional medicine, but our plastic surgeon suggests her facial transformation hasn't been so natural. For a businesswoman who promotes cosmetic acupuncture as a face-sculpting treatment and infrared sauna therapy for detoxing, you'd expect Paltrow to lean into more natural methods, like face yoga exercises for sculpted skin. However, Glam spoke exclusively to Dr. Frederick Weniger, a plastic surgeon based in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with over two decades of experience, and his analysis points to several beauty procedures and maybe even a surgery or two.
"Gwyneth Paltrow appears to have aged gracefully with the help of subtle, high-quality aesthetic treatments as well as at least one surgical procedure," he says. He believes she's used the regulars like Botox, fractional laser, and radiofrequency microneedling, but he also sees signs of more invasive procedures. "Her eyebrows near the root of her nose, though, now rest slightly higher than they did 19 years ago. This is hard to explain without a forehead/brow lift at some point," he explains.
Our surgeon also points to her cheeks, which are full and lifted in a way that contradicts what one would expect from natural aging. He believes this effect may come from hyaluronic acid fillers or small-volume fat transfer. "The softness of her nasolabial folds (smile lines) suggests additional filler maintenance," he adds. Notably, Paltrow has spoken about having Botox injections in the past, but she's kept mum on any surgical aesthetic procedures.
Lip fillers may be in Gwyneth Paltrow's arsenal, per our plastic surgeon
From controversial Goop products to our roundup of Gwyneth Paltrow's most inappropriate outfits, the "Avengers" actor has had her fair share of beauty-related scandals. However, one of the most organic came after she posted a cooking reel on Instagram in July 2025, and fans noticed a change in her lips. One commenter directly asked her what happened, while another dubbed them "Marge Simpson lips." Paltrow didn't respond, but Dr. Frederick Weniger notes the difference in our exclusive conversation.
He explains that her lips seem to have gained definition, possibly with a "subtle filler like Restylane." Beyond the minor tweaks, our plastic surgeon also suspects a more significant procedure. "At 52 years of age, she has an impressively sharp jawline and no loose, extra skin in her neck/chin area at all," he says. "This, along with her complete lack of marionette lines, any hint of jowls, and nicely positioned corners over her mouth, further points to a lower face lift that was well-executed."
While Dr. Weniger's plastic surgery analysis may not concur with Paltrow's holistic-wellness narrative, there is one thing he agrees with her on: Her skincare is clearly top-tier. "The smoothness of her skin points to non-surgical technologies. [...] A consistent medical-grade skincare routine has also been followed," he tells us.
Could Gwyneth Paltrow need more surgery in the coming years?
Time waits for no one — not even Goop's founder — and according to Dr. Frederick Weniger, Gwyneth Paltrow might begin to notice this more than ever in the coming years. Fortunately, in our exclusive chat, he reveals some ways to maintain her refined look without overdoing it. He points out that her "midface volume is still excellent," but he suggests that "a touch of deep structural support with fillers placed along the lateral cheekbones and jawline could help preserve facial definition as soft tissue begins to shift."
Around the eyes, he notes that "raising the tail of her eyebrows with a temple lift/brow rotation would return them to their earlier shape and would fix the hooding, or bunching of skin, in the crow's feet area." As facial skin naturally thins with age, Dr. Weniger suggests injectables like Sculptra or Radiesse as strategic tools to "improve skin density and collagen production without adding volume in the wrong places." Ultimately, he emphasizes that "the key is not to chase youth, but to subtly reinforce what's already working so well, with a focus on balance, restraint, and ongoing skin quality."
Paltrow may receive similar advice from the plastic surgeon she may or may not have, but we can't help but wonder if she'll be transparent about it. It's true that she isn't required to be one of the celebrities who have opened up about their plastic surgery journey. However, many people would like her to, as one comment on her cooking video reads: "I really wish she'd be honest about the work she's had recently because she sells anti-aging products. She looks amazing, but like, be honest. Especially when that's what your brand is all about."
