We Asked A Plastic Surgeon To Break Down The Changes To Christina Haack's Face
Ever scrolled past a celeb pic and thought, "Wait ... something's different"? That's us with Christina Haack right now, and it's not the hair and makeup she ditched since her HGTV debut. Sure, millionaire beauty routines can work wonders, but last we checked, skincare brands aren't bottling new noses. So, we asked a plastic surgeon to break down just how much work the "Flip or Flop" star may have had done. Glam spoke exclusively to Dr. Raja Mohan, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Dallas, Texas, who confirms that her nose, as well as her chin and lips, look different from before.
First, he points out a glaring change. "Her nose looks slightly more refined than in earlier photos," he says. Translation? The nose bridge is "smoother" and the tip a little more perked up, according to Dr. Mohan. It's more in line with the slim-nose craze that's currently dominating Hollywood, but it's not just Haack's nose that caught Dr. Mohan's attention. According to him, her chin looks different from 10 years ago, potentially thanks to "a small chin implant," a sprinkle of filler, or even a little nip and tuck under the jaw via liposuction or skin tightening.
The juiciest part of our chat with Dr. Mohan is his take on Haack's lips. Fans will remember when the HGTV star admitted on Instagram that she'd had a bad under-eye filler reaction and swore off it. The lingering question is whether her disavowal just about her eyes or her entire face. After all, we know a makeup hack or two that can flip the lips without any surgery needed. Interestingly, Dr. Mohan believes the explanation is less about makeup tricks and more about filler.
Christina Haack maintains her skin with routine Botox and fillers
Botox is basically the new moisturizer in Hollywood, and Dr. Raja Mohan thinks Christina Haack may be in on the trend. "Her skin has remained remarkably smooth and bright, which could be attributed to regular use of Botox in the forehead and glabella," he explains during our exclusive chat. It's hard to argue with that, especially since Haack herself once joked that hitting 40 was "nothing a little Botox can't fix" (via People).
Beyond the Botox, Dr. Mohan zooms in on Haack's mid-face. Looking at photos from 2015 to now, he notes that the volume in her cheeks has barely budged in over a decade, which isn't how aging usually works. "The volume and smoothness in her mid-face suggest she's likely had dermal filler in the cheeks to maintain youthful contours," he explains. (Not familiar with fillers? Our ultimate guide to dermal fillers breaks down every type and what they do.) Overall, Dr. Mohan gives Haack credit for her aesthetic choices, which he says have been targeted to treat and improve more than to overhaul.
Christina Haack may need more surgery in the coming years
There are two types of people when it comes to plastic surgery: those who feel empowered by steering clear, and those who feel just as empowered by choosing the procedures they want. Christina Haack clearly belongs in the second camp, and according to Dr. Raja Mohan, that likely means she'll keep turning to subtle procedures as she ages. One of Dr. Mohan's biggest pieces of advice is that Haack will need to watch her facial volume, as collagen production naturally dips with age. "Strategic use of biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra or Radiesse could help stimulate collagen and maintain midface structure without creating a puffy or overfilled look," he says.
During our exclusive chat, Dr. Mohan also notes that starting "subtle skin-tightening treatments" early could help Haack avoid loose neck or jaw skin. Radiofrequency microneedling or ultrasound-based devices are two options that can make a big difference over time. He further recommends that she stick with her current routine because one thing that happens to your face when you stop Botox is that the frozen look fades, and deeper lines set in.
Finally, if Haack's face ever begins to sag noticeably, a mini facelift or even a full one could set things right. As Kris Jenner's face transformation shows, a well-done facelift won't look exaggerated, and with the same proactive yet conservative approach she's taken so far, Haack is on track to keep aging beautifully on her own terms.
