When Meghan McCain interviewed Usha Vance on the former's podcast, "Citizen McCain," the host delved into fashion with the second lady, who confessed that she has a group text with a few girlfriends to help her figure out what to wear. And for the most part, this support group of sorts is working. The SLOTUS has not only navigated life in a very public eye, but she's also managed to pull off some stunning outfits along the way; Usha Vance's style transformation since her husband J.D. took up the post of vice president has been nothing short of impressive.

If we were going to offer one critique to the former lawyer, it would be that she could add a little something-something to her outfits to elevate them to the next level. Following the seven-point rule that takes the guesswork out of fashion might help Usha see that a few accessories or other statement pieces could bring her style from safe to sensational, but we have a feeling that Usha's outfits are a reflection of her — and in that case, you do you.

At the January 2025 Commander in Chief Inaugural Ball that celebrated her husband's ascent to the vice presidency, Usha Vance proved that blue might be her color. In a stunning Reem Acra gown, the second lady drew rave reviews. One Instagram user wrote, "She looks so beautiful. She has great style, poise, carriage ... love this gown and the color. The perfect choice for our beautiful Mrs. VP!" Her daytime inauguration look, a dusty-rose Oscar de la Renta outfit, received mixed reviews, whereas this one was one of her best looks yet.

J.D. and Usha Vance headed to India on official business in April 2025. While Ivanka Trump may have caused brows to furrow when she first visited India in an official capacity in 2017 by wearing American and English designers, Usha didn't make the same mistake. As her family took in sights like the Taj Mahal, she wore an effortless blue-and-white dress by Indian brand Saloni. (Cameron Diaz and Zendaya have also worn the label's dresses.) Usha's white tassled loafers, both practical and stylish, finished the look perfectly.

An oversized blazer has served Usha Vance well on more than one occasion. For a visit to Congress in March 2025, she paired the jacket with wide-leg trousers for an elegant monochromatic outfit. When she traveled to Italy in April, again she donned a blazer, this time paired with neutral separates. Though we appreciate the simplicity of the 'fit, there are also a few things she could do to make a neutral color palette more interesting, like adding a pop of color with an accessory or stacking her jewelry.

Mother of three Usha Vance, who turned 39 in January 2025, showed a saucier side when she touched down in Reno at the end of July 2024. At a campaign rally, she wore an elegant white dress with a subtle hint of sexiness by way of a thigh slit. She completed the look with a pair of Banana Republic heels with an ankle-tie detail. The neutral-colored heel is a great way to wear an ankle strap without making the leg look shorter by visually cutting it off.

For yet another inauguration week event, this time an evening honoring her husband, Usha Vance wore a gorgeous black Oscar de la Renta gown. The sweetheart neckline and nipped-in waist helped create an exaggerated hourglass silhouette, while the floral brooches added to the illusion of curves at the bust. The brand posted a photo of the look, which drew a lot of politically motivated comments. But one Instagram user wrote underneath the snap, "I didn't vote for her husband and Trump but I can appreciate that she looks beautiful in that dress."

While campaigning for her husband in the summer of 2024, Usha Vance looked the MAGA part in an array of sheath dresses. At the Republican National Convention, she wore a red Ted Baker London dress, as well as an off-the-rack cobalt-blue Badgley Mischka number. Though it can be a very political-centric outfit, there are ways to style a sheath dress without looking like you (or your spouse) are running for office.

Usha Vance proved that she's a pro at pulling off monochromatic neutrals, but she doesn't shy away from color either. On repeated occasions, the second lady has worn bright trousers, including teal, red, and magenta. In regards to the teal pair she wore on St. Patrick's Day 2025, J.D. Vance quipped, "It's also a really great opportunity for Usha to wear her pair of green pants. She's had these in the closet for years and finally gets to break them out" (via Fox 29 Philadelphia).

In January, Usha Vance wore a beautiful draped white dress to a prayer service, which she liked so much she repeated the look on a visit to France the next month. For the second wearing, she donned it in a blue-gray shade. The dress in question is from the brand Favorite Daughter, run by Hollywood power siblings, Erin and Sara Foster. Usha also wore the trendy label while in Germany. Whether these choices were Usha's or with the guidance of her group chat, the second lady is holding her own on the fashion front.
