The Worst-Dressed Celebs At The 2025 Emmys

The Emmy Awards mark the biggest night of the year in television. Stars of fan-favorite dramas, comedies, and reality shows gather to celebrate the best of the small screen. While many actors have made their name by playing relatable characters, they typically get dressed to the nines when they make their way to the Emmys red carpet. And the formal attire worn to this year's awards was anything but boring.

Some attendees wore classic gowns that felt reminiscent of Old Hollywood glamour. Others were more experimental and opted for daring outfits that consisted mostly of sheer fabrics and bold colors. Black was the go-to shade of the night as many donned noir dresses with wide leg slits. Dresses varied from flowing fabrics to fitted constructions that matched the award statuettes themselves. While the atypical outfits weren't quite as bizarre as the worst-dressed celebs at the 2025 MTV VMAs, there were still a number of fashion fails that you'll need to see to believe.

The worst offenders tried to be trendy but lacked a timeless appeal with their choices. There were quite a few that picked nice gowns but took a few missteps that ultimately landed them on the worst-dressed list. From Patricia Arquette to Michelle Visage, here are the celebs who just didn't deliver at the 2025 ceremony.

Patricia Arquette wore a bland and baggy dress

Emmy and Oscar winner Patricia Arquette is a veteran of award-show red carpets, but her years of experience don't mean that her outfits need to be tired and shabby. Her Rick Owens dress at the 2025 event lacked shape and made her proportions look unflattering.

Arquette even admitted to Entertainment Tonight that she tie-dyed the frock in question after staining it. Sadly, her DIY fix made the material look dirty. She tried to show off some edge with leather gloves and a black clutch but it wasn't enough to keep the whole outfit from looking drab. Her hair was also in a super-messy bun, which didn't help.

Rita Ora's frock was far too casual

Rita Ora is from the world of music, but she has spent enough time on television that she should know how to dress. To the 2025 Emmys, Ora wore a Miu Miu dress so casual, it looked like a cross between a bath robe and a night gown. Did she grab a towel or blanket that was on sale at T.J.Maxx and wrap it around her waist with a belt? It's a shame because Ora's platinum-blond bangs looked great and the color didn't look washed out on her skin. Too bad the silhouette of this get-up was so forgettable.

Sharon Horgan tried to be edgy but it didn't land

There were quite a few outfits on the Emmy carpet that were sheer and revealing, but Sharon Horgan's 2025 take represents how to do the trend incorrectly. It's not one of the most inappropriate outfits in Emmys history, but there were a lot of random spots on the gothic dress that were barely covered with see-through lace. Between the skirt and the side cutouts, the dress looked disheveled and poorly tailored. Instead, the sheer fabric should have been reserved for the skirt and a modern bralette should've replaced the bodice of the dress instead of this leather-looking top.

Michelle Visage's dress didn't feel cohesive

Michelle Visage's dress is an example of a good idea gone wrong. It had elements that worked, like the navy-blue color and the chic cut of the neckline. The ruching on the side was definitely a classic touch, but being attached to a minidress, it didn't give off the right amount of drama. Visage surely wanted to show off her tattooed legs with this look so it's too bad this dress didn't give them the proper attention. The top and the bottom almost felt mismatched as if two different dresses were made into one.

Shannon Murphy looked like she was playing dress up

"Dying for Sex" director Shannon Murphy proved that sometimes adding too many accessories can ruin the whole outfit when she wore a pink peasant dress with puffy sleeves and bow ties on the bodice to the 2025 award show. On its own, the gown would've been a cute, girly example of the royally fun trend known as Regencycore. But Murphy decided to add a feather boa that looked like it would be picked up at a party store. The multi-colored accessory was distracting and the sight of her swinging it around in front of the cameras made the whole appearance feel juvenile.

Isa Briones chose an unflattering shade

"The Pitt" actor Isa Briones deserves credit for attempting to wear a color that isn't often worn on the red carpet: chartreuse. But perhaps there's a reason why we rarely see the yellow-green hue. The single-toned corseted dress looked different in certain places based on how the color came out under the shining light. Unfortunately, the lace on the bodice was overshadowed by the strange, sloppy green belt. And the worst part? The look's best feature was hidden in the back! Her long blue hair scarves should've had better placement to fully shine.
