Paris Jackson's Most Inappropriate Red Carpet Outfits So Far
You may know Paris Jackson as Michael Jackson's daughter, but she's made quite a name for herself in the realm of music, film, and fashion. Over the years of Paris Jackson's stunning style transformation, she's landed at an intersection between coastal cowgirl and haute grunge, and that's just how she likes it. "[My relationship with fashion] used to be more of a love-hate and now it's more love because I've learned how to not let the industry affect my personal life and find a good balance with it," she said during an interview with Fashionista from October 2024. Jackson, who described her style as "Janis Joplin meets Kurt Cobain," explained during an interview with Allure from February 2023 that her inspiration has many sources. "I just take [ideas] from a lot of the things that I like. Nothing's really mine; it's just a melting pot of my favorites, I guess." She went on to note that she has her go-tos when she's not on the red carpet, embracing dark and earth tones and emphasizing that '90s aesthetic.
In the realm of personal style, Paris Jackson has accumulated over 80 tattoos that make her completely unrecognizable without them and has been known to constantly switch up her hair over the years, elevating her personal style to achieve the bohemian vibe. As someone who largely stays away from the fashion fads and makes daring decisions on the red carpet, Paris has made some big swings and big misses over the years, particularly when it comes to not understanding the assignment for the event in question. From dresses that looked half-finished to outfits that were overly casual, here are her most inappropriate looks.
Paris Jackson's 2017 MTV VMAs dress seemed unfinished
Paris Jackson may have taken the concept of festival fashion too far at the MTV VMAs in August 2017. Jackson, who was 19 at the time, graced the red carpet in a Christian Dior see-through garment, embroidered with florals and mythical creatures, exposing the nude bra and boy-shorts she had on underneath. Jackson finished off the look with a cool, smokey, under-eye makeup look to emphasize her icy-blue, peepers, which are rumored to be a result of Waardenburg syndrome.
The VMAs are more playful than other red-carpet events, but the combination here of the visible boy-leg underwear and the fact that she later kicked off her heels to walk before the media barefoot, really took this look from avant-garde to unfinished. It wasn't the last time that Jackson went for a sheer look, nor was it the raciest, but it did leave us scratching our heads the most.
Paris Jackson rolled off the couch before the Fashion Media Awards
We know Paris Jackson loves her earth tones, but she took it to a whole other level during New York Fashion Week in September 2018. For the Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards, Jackson's look was sponsored by Zadig & Voltaire, though it seems like a surfer dude in California might have had a hand in it as well. On top, Jackson wore a long-sleeve tie-dyed T-shirt that she tied above her belly button, and olive-green joggers pulled to below her knee. To complete the look, the "Gringo" actor wore high-top buckle sneakers and layers of long necklaces.
We can forgive Jackson for her glam, which felt much more modern than the rest of her ensemble. She wore her golden locks wavy and parted down the middle, while she stuck to her signature makeup look of a brown smokey eye. The rest of the look, though, doesn't particularly scream "fashion week," but rather a Y2K preteen.
Paris Jackson's statement sweater didn't quite get the message across
Paris Jackson might have gone a bit too casual once more to the launch of Stella McCartney's Adidas collection in February 2023. She graced the red carpet in a distressed knit sweater that read "Change the History," but because of the font on the oversized garment, it was hard to make out what the graphic actually said. Additionally, with the help of her Instagram post from the night, we can see that the back of the sweater was almost entirely cut out. She was going for the distressed, grunge, counterculture vibe, but the knit was a bit too torn apart for a red carpet, in our opinion. Keeping with the oversized theme, she paired the sweater with baggy black jeans and platform loafers.
Jackson once again accentuated her blue eyes with her choice of eyeshadows, but her hair could have been a bit neater. She pulled it up into a tousled, voluminous top knot, leaving out a few of her face-framing pieces.
When Paris Jackson went full Tarzan for an Academy Awards viewing party
The gown that Paris Jackson wore to Elton John's Academy Awards viewing party in March 2024 was not safe for work, in any sense of the phrase. The singer-songwriter stepped onto the red carpet in a black crystallized mesh gown without a bra, so that nothing was left to the imagination. For the bottom half, Jackson slipped on a pair of black underwear, as the skirt had two slits up to the thigh. Unfortunately, the only thing we could see was a loincloth, which certainly wouldn't be suitable for an Oscar's watch party. Risqué 'fits are acceptable, but baring it all, except for what a pair of briefs covers, crosses the line.
If Jackson weren't already showing enough skin, the back of the dress featured a heart-shaped cutout lined with white ruffles, finishing off the look with a pair of black stilettos. She also changed up her hair and makeup a bit, wearing her delicate beach waves in a side part and opting for more natural, dewy glam. We just hope she didn't catch a cold!
Paris Jackson got slammed for her see-through dress
Paris Jackson clearly has a thing for see-through garments, but the one she wore to Paris Fashion Week in March 2025 may be her last. The "Sex Appeal" actor was attending Stella McCartney's fashion show and chose an off-the-shoulder mesh black gown from its ready-to-wear spring collection, and had even less on underneath than she did at the Academy Awards viewing party.
Having had enough of the external noise telling her to cover up, Jackson took to her Instagram story to vent. "We're all animals, we've all got bodies," she expressed, according to E! News. "It's not that big of a deal, and we've got bigger fish to fry, alright? Let's do something for the environment, man. Let's do something for the planet, man. Stop freaking out about nipples, man!" She went on to share a message of wisdom. "It's just a body, on a human, which is an animal. We look at other naked animals all the time," she said. "Don't get uncomfortable with our bodies. It's your body, you've got one, I've got one, we've all got it's OK. There's nothing wrong with it." While there's nothing inherently wrong with the human body, the same can't be said for baring it all at a prestigious event like Paris Fashion Week.
