The Best And Worst-Dressed Celebs At Variety's Power Of Women 2025
Every year, Variety selects a group of impactful celebrities to honor at its Power of Women event, which launched in 2009. The publication announced in September that this year's honorees were Wanda Sykes, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nicole Scherzinger, Kate Hudson, and Sydney Sweeney. Stars and influential folks in the industry gathered on October 29, 2025, at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles dressed up in their finest duds to celebrate this girl-power moment, and while some awed in their get-ups, others simply missed the mark.
We get that the Power of Women event is about recognizing these celebs' achievements and efforts, but we're all about the fashion. Although attendees don't get as decked out as they would at, say, the Oscars, the event is still black-tie, which means sparkling gowns, fitted power suits, and dazzling cocktail dresses are all staples. Some went the safe route and showed up in an LBD, which is a forever piece you should always have in your wardrobe. Others, like Nicole Scherzinger, chose to go for one of the year's trendiest colors and looked fab. While the Tony winner was one of the celebs who made it onto our best-dressed list, sadly, others got a thumbs down for their less-than-impressive looks.
Best: Kate Hudson looked like a goddess in her column dress
As one of the honorees at Variety's Power of Women event this year, Kate Hudson didn't play with her look. The "Almost Famous" star stunned in a white Grecian-style column gown by Carolina Herrera that featured a dramatic cape draped over one shoulder. There were no extreme embellishments or adornments, but the dress was gorgeous in its simplicity and didn't need many accessories, either. Hudson kept the rest of her look simple with an ear cuff and a large ring, and her makeup was minimal, too, which was the perfect touch for this 'fit.
Worst: Eva Longoria looked like she was playing dress-up in her father's closet
We get that oversized blazers are one of the elevated basics your wardrobe needs for fall, but Eva Longoria was channeling "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" in her jacket, which appeared at least four sizes too big. The large, padded shoulders overtook her frame, and the blazer obviously needed to be tailored, as the sleeves went way over Longoria's hands. The "Desperate Housewives" star may have been going for a power suit, but it looked as if she'd dug into her dad's closet and grabbed the first jacket she saw. Usually, Longoria's 'fits are hits, but this one was a miss.
Best: Nicole Scherzinger looked perfect in plum
Nicole Scherzinger hopped on one of the biggest color trends of the year: deep purple. The former Pussycat Dolls member and one of this year's Power of Women honorees slayed in a plum-colored body-hugging gown with a thigh-high slit. The Gaurav Gupta creation draped over Scherzinger perfectly, and we love the asymmetrical shoulder that complemented the slit. A pair of nude heels was all she needed to complete her look. Ultimately, while the Broadway star had on loads of bling, her gown still stole the show in the best way.
Worst: Sharon Stone's basic instinct should have been to scrap her outfit
It's not always a good thing when a celebrity's outfit renders us speechless, which is what Sharon Stone's confusing Power of Women 2025 ensemble did. From the bizarre silhouette of her off-white shirt to the long white gloves, Stone looked like a mime who ran into a large piece of cellophane. Sometimes, it's not best to go for an avant-garde look, especially when a simple silk button-up shirt would have sufficed. Fans were also not into the "Basic Instinct" star's 'fit, with one commenting on E! News' Facebook post of the look, "Sharon looks like a post-it note."
Best: Sydney Sweeney shimmered in silver
Sydney Sweeney has had a style evolution since her "Euphoria" days, with her looks getting bolder and more daring. After getting roasted for her American Eagle ad, the "Anyone but You" star is brushing off the critics by wowing in a sheer, crystallized Christian Cowan x Elias Matso gown. The stunning dress featured half sleeves and a twisted waist with swirls that highlighted her hourglass figure. As an honoree that night, Sweeney definitely brought her star power, and this is one of her best looks to date.
Worst: Molly Sims' all-black look was uninspired
As a model, Molly Sims should know which 'fits are flattering, but it looked like she didn't even try for the 2025 Power of Women event. The former "House of Style" host showed up in a shapeless black maxi dress with a velvet top and an odd sash at the waist. Sims accessorized with an equally boring pair of black pumps and a structural handbag. Even her makeup and hair lacked excitement, with Sims going for an all-natural face and a plain updo. With Sims' beauty, she can get away with doing less, but this was still a letdown.
Best: Naturi Naughton was a vision in her lacy 'fit
If Naturi Naughton were to ask us, "Is You Feelin' Me," we would answer, "I Do." The former 3LW member looked gorgeous in her pale-pink-and-black Marc Jacobs cocktail dress that had delicate floral embroidery woven in the front. Naughton carried the floral theme down to her legs with lacy black stockings and black pumps, which only streamlined her whole look. Her whole 'fit was a combination of sweet and spicy, and it was perfect for this star-filled red-carpet event.
Worst: Jennifer Pedranti looked dated in her turtleneck dress
Was Jennifer Pedranti going to Variety's Power of Women event in 2025 or hosting a '70s variety show? It sure looked like the latter when the "Real Housewives of Orange County" star decided to wear a sparkly brown dress with a flared hem and mock turtleneck. The material looked dated and like it was made out of cheap polyester. Surely she could have found a style more current than this old-fashioned gown. If a disco diva was the aesthetic Pedranti was going for, she definitely succeeded.
