Valerie Bertinelli's Flirty Blond Hair Transformation Is Temporary — But We're Begging Her To Keep It
Valerie Bertinelli, known for her dark tresses, stunned in an Instagram selfie showcasing butter blond hair, which is a warmer alternative to platinum. "New hair who dis?" she captioned the pic. The "Hot in Cleveland" star then told fans that she was wearing a wig, thanks to hairstylist to the stars, Chris Appleton. "Food Network" host Sunny Anderson joked, "Oh you in my wig closet?!? I LOVE this color on youuuuu!!!!!!!" We happen to agree, and Bertinelli never looked better. The blond instantly brightened up her appearance, and while her natural hair isn't jet black, dark hair colors can make you look older. With the wig's ashy bronde shade at the roots gradually lightening into a warm yellow with lighter highlights streaked in, the mix of different hues totally complemented Bertinelli's cool undertone.
Unfortunately, the wig didn't stay on too long, and Bertinelli hilariously shared how difficult it was to take off in her Instagram Stories. "Oh, ow, okay," she was seen muttering as she tried to peel off the hairpiece that was stuck on with glue and clips (via Daily Mail). Underneath the wig was her brunette hair, and while we get that it's Bertinelli's signature style, blond hair really suits the mom of one. She has also been open about having to dye her grays, and it's easier to mask silver strands when you have lighter hair. So, perhaps it's time for a change-up and let Bertinelli see if blonds do have more fun!
Valerie Bertinelli looked radiant with blond highlights years ago
If Valerie Bertinelli has any doubts about going blond now, she has proved in the past that lighter locks look better on her. In 2017, she shared a photo of herself on Facebook with blond highlights and asked fans, "Thinking about going blonde for the summer ... what say you? Yay or nay?" While many fans urged Bertinelli to keep her beautiful brunette hair color, one replied, "Why not!! Go for it ... it's only hair!!! I'm all Italian, and when I started going [gray], I went blonde. Everybody told me how nice it looked." Two years later, the "One Day at a Time" star showed up at the Daytime Emmys with caramel-colored hair featuring blond highlights, and she positively glowed on the red carpet.
Bertinelli lamented about her grays in 2024 after calling out a fan who accused her of wearing a wig in a now-deleted Instagram post, per USA Today. "Can you get me a wig without flipping gray roots then, please? Because I'm tired of getting my roots done every two weeks," she shared. Well, if Bertinelli were to dye her hair blond, she could go longer between salon visits, as the grays would blend in better than her current brunette shade. A fun new look plus less time spent touching up grays? We think going blond would be a win-win for Bertinelli.
